To answer your first question, most modern aircrafts use digital fly by wire control (morphed slowly from intelligent flight control system). The control loop makes use of aircraft sensors to fly the aircraft which makes stability a non issue (for example the aircrafts might be fitted with...
Your point in the previous post was that Americans are to be worked with despite the fact that they "will give no TOT" and "will give downgraded technology". The truth is every country out their does the same. Those who don't charge huge sums of money (some Euro nations, israel, etc). My point...
I am not sure how many here subscribe to AW&ST. The latest issue has an article on C-17 production line and job issues at long beach, california. I am quoting a portion of the text here!
It would seem that options for 10 additional aircrafts do exist.

Replacing skin sections is not a big deal. I remember IAF mig-29's got similar upgrade when they had their upgrades done in India a few years ago. It makes sense specially where fatigue is an issue and skin sections need replacement anyway!

PS: The typhoon tied on the side is HUGE!!! :woot:
While I agree that US requires a reduction in demands from our side, we should also remember that India can tie up and create a ship based BMD system if required. What stop's india from collaborating with the russians on S-500 system?
Indian navy's mandate is NOT BMD. It requires good area...
Latest reports seem to confirm that they will have 8 internal BVR AAM's and can also carry two long range anti-AWACS BVR missiles externally.
Ria Novosti reports:
(translation)
It had been reported last year that IAF is looking at a different platform for the next series of Phalcon (which could happen after the next three or not?). I personally feel that the platform chosen whould ideally be a long range airliner as they have exceptional endurance and high fuel...
IMO, the only thing that may stop IAF from choosing an aircraft would be everything other than price. All the birds in question can be acquired at aprox $100 million per aircraft. Ofcourse the whole package may cost a lot more (even $160-180 million/ aircraft is possible)!
IAF has a well thought out plan for periodic upgrades for Su-30. These will cover the entire lifecycle at 15 year intervals. The first upgrade is due already and there are a number of upgrade paths which IAF would be looking at. Though all I know of are the upgrade options sukhoi has been...
As was pointed out before, the 280 being quoted by many sources was taking into account the desire for IAF to order 50 additional platforms. That order hasn't materialized yet. It would now seem that it has been reduced from 280 to 270 (42 instead of 50). This planned aquisition has been on the...
Don't know about Spike-LR but the new Spike NLOS with 25km range should definitely be looked into! Will be a headache for any armoured formation!

It is not a comparative trial. It is a deployment trial and is still a few weeks away.
A thread already exists. I would urge the mods to take necessary action!
thanks!
Do you mean the Aegis BMD system or the KDX-III? As far as the system goes, it depends on the number of SAM's and the type used.
For example a single SM-3 costs about $ 8-10 million. SM-2 blkIV should be cheaper. It would also depend on which Aegis version is being talked about.
KDX-III...
