I am tired of these threads which talk of all the help/ copies/ stealing and other means India has resorted to to make the bomb, balllistic missiles and so on !
How does it matter!? If there is a war tomorrow and some idiot decides to throw some WMD's at us, I am sure we can give a...
Where did you see these images? AFAIK, ISRO does not release images at highest resolution for general public! The images put up on their website are of 1/100th to 1/1000th resolution.
Here is some update on Indian Grand Prix

And here is an interesting article from WSJ:

yup! It is a 4K51 Rubezh (NATO-Code: SSC-3 Styx) soviet-built anti-ship-missile launcher for coastal defense!
Here is a romanian system for comparison:
When did I "not accept"? IF PAF wants to get to 250 by 2015, they will get there by any means possible. This could possibly include many of the birds being produced in China. The numbers I have quoted are not stupendous. All future mki numbers will come from imports (not HAL). Irkut supplies...
Which radar is this (volume search)? afaik, 52C has a type 517 knife rest radar (2D). The pic you uploaded shows a 3D radar. It seems to be some artists work.
I have never come across any verifiable source claiming such a high detection range for BARS radar. What's the range of IRBIS? If i remember corrrectly, it had a much better range compared to Bars. I would guess that they are planning on just changing the front end considering how modular bars...
New pic from keypubs forum. Supposed to be the new antenna for BARS slated for upgrade. This should also come as a standard fit for the new mki's to be ordered. The detection/track ranges are set to double and the number of targets (tracks) is set to triple.
Frankly, seems to me to be the...
To keep things in perspective, we should have 300+ mki's by 2020. IAF chief in a recent interview on television told that additional mki orders are certain to keep up the numbers. IAF has decided to fill up any shortfall with mki's. Also, we have close to 100 jaguars (not 70). Also consider the...
IMO, the question of "if and when" doen not arise. These days many so called "defence analysts" have been coming up with increasingly bizarre assertions. This one tops it all! IAF has no need for a dedicated supersonic trainer. The same reason why IAF gave a cold shoulder to HAL's plan of a LIFT...
I don't think shivaliks have shikari directors. Moreover, the labeled system is in all likelihood a SATCOM antenna. Shikari's were originally procured for brahmaptra's and Godavari's (trishul SAM) but when barak was decided as the standard point defence SAM, they became redundant.
Why should India buy L-15 ? We are already flying hawk's as AJT's. After stage-3 training on AJT's, pilots are sent to operational squadrons where they have twin seat trainers in most squadrons! LIFT's are needed only when there are no twin seater trainers available (example jf-17 till...
The flight tests with al-55I started last year. They are progressing well. New engines for the LSP have been supplied and LSP (12 aircrafts) are in advanced stage of mfg. They should get to IAF by end of this year or sometime next year. Then the serial production will start (20-24 per year).
France is the largest contributor to the ESA right!?
Did first Ariane 5 succeed (V-89)? answer- no
The second launch saw an issue with the Cryo engine which failed!
So I would kindly recommend you to go and fart somewhere else.
Failures are necessary! They help keep things in perspective and strive for perfection. Cryogenics is highly complex and it is only a matter of time that we achieve this milestone as well. I am sure other programs might get delayed but I don't mind waiting a few extra years for ISRO to succeed...
