The 40 smartest countries in 1999? What are the rankings now?

Because it is simply a listing of countries calculated by population/number of nobel prize winners. Either increase number of nobel prize winners or reduce population.

The 40 smartest countries in 1999? What are the rankings now?

I've seen this list being mentioned on QI. This is simply per capita nobel prize winners list. This is bogus since countries with a smaller population will be ranked better. In this case, Iceland, who has one Nobel prize winner(in economics) among its residents is considered the smartest per capita.

Baluchi’s Sued for Discriminating Against Brown People

I can corroborate that. Most 'Indian' restaurants here are owned by Bangladesh followed by Pakistanis and last Indians. An easy way to determine I noticed was to look at the Naans. The ones I have in Indian owned restaurants are usually flat like the ones you get in restaurants in India. The...

After jailing Kashmiri lobbyist Fai, US is being fussy over its CIA agent?

All of this is fine. But one still wonders how far has Pakistan progressed in prosecuting those who were responsible for sheltering Osama in Abbotabad for all that time? Isn't that a treason? As far as I know, no one has been prosecuted or even held accountable for this failing. Under these...

'Beef Festival' in India Sets Off Outrage and Misogyny

This was a purely economic reasoning that if they served beef in their premises, people would just avoid eating at McDonalds. No one would have burned it down. It is for this same reasoning that McDonalds don't serve any pork products either. The sausages in the breakfast menu are made from Chicken.

    Pakistan vs india missile symbolism

I don't get it. These guys started their invasion by first going through the land which is now Pakistan ie. the lands which now make up Pakistan bore the brunt of these invaders. Why would you want to honor these guys? Seems like their anti-India sentiment has pushed them to cut off their nose...

Pakistani engineer invents generator that runs on water

He does mention that he needs flowing water for the generator to work. So it sounds like he is using the kinetic energy in the water to produce electricity which in turn is used for electrolysis. I guess if you need to store this energy instead of using it directly ie. say a car, then...

Pakistani engineer invents generator that runs on water

So the machine uses electricity to separate water into Hydrogen and Oxygen and then recombines them to produce electricity again? With 100% efficiency, you will still run into something called Law of conservation of energy which means you will not be able to generate more electricity than what...

PDF meet up at Farnborogh air show

Advice to any PDFers planning on visiting Farnborough this year. Carry a FM radio with you. Information about the flying display is available on a FM channel. The public announcement systems are rubbish and cannot be heard over the roars of the engines.

Canadian visa offices in BD closed

Many countries with high traffic for visa applications have outsourced their visa departments. It is the same with the Indian embassy here in the UK. Many of the big Schengen countries too use VFS for visa applications. This is a non issue.

Kashmir: Declare Ahmadis non-Muslims: Grand Mufti

Every Indian has the freedom of religion. Why would you want to deny the same right to the Ahmediyas? As for tolerance. Doesn't most of the religions say that the others are Kafirs/Unbelievers/Untouchables, etc. In effect they do call other religions inferior and claim that the followers of...

Kashmir: Declare Ahmadis non-Muslims: Grand Mufti

My opinion in the matters of personal law here in India is that the law is wrong. I don't care about what a person believes in as long as it doesn't affect me. Thought cannot be regulated. People will believe in all sort of stuff. Even in religions like Islam which you claim to have rigid...
