China Box Office: 'Jurassic World' Grabs $100M As Blackout Looms

In my defense, like every male human being (and some females as well) that is born after the invention of gunpower, large amount of explosion and gratuitous amount of violence attracts my attention----as long as it is done in good conscience. I don't fault people for liking sassy love...

China Box Office: 'Jurassic World' Grabs $100M As Blackout Looms

During the movie, they did say that real dinosaur would look different. It is actually a specific plot point----the theme park want "attractions" instead of the real thing, hence the featherless dinosaur and genetically engineered Indominus Rex. I am surprised that Age of Ultron is in second...

    Scientists discover Emperor Yao's capital

Is her gold seal a mythical item, or is there an actual item like that? Too bad that the Chinese Imperial seal was lost in the chaos of WWI. It would have made a wonderful historical artifact. Though, it is rather poetic that the imperial seal that signifies ages of kings and emperors is lost...

China orders civilian ships to be used by the military!!!

Wait...that's a surprise? Use of civilian vessels as supplement to the naval force has been in practice since the first navy is founded, especially in transporting supply and ferrying troops.

    Scientists discover Emperor Yao's capital

Holy crap. That's a neolithic ruin. If it is indeed Yao's capital, then it is probably one of the earliest root of the entire Chinese civilization. (Barring Huang and Yan emperors, of course. If there is an actual organized civilization back in their days, then it would push Chinese ancient...

Uygur killed by police after Xi'an railway attack

To the defence of the Tang emperor, have you seen the supply line from heart land China to Persian empire? This is the historical Silk Road: That's 4000 kilometers of desert or close enough to desert region. That kind of logistic lines are enough to give a modern nation nightmares, let alone...

Record yuan strength hurts Chinese exports, immediate let-up unlikely

It is certainly possible for the GDP growth to be 7% or lower. Remember, while we say the past few decades are "decades of double digit growth", in practice, there are quite a few years where the growth rate was below 10%. Late 1989 also saw 3 to 4% growth rate. Similar late 90s China only has a...

Beijing comes to rescue: China to inject billions of dollars into EU fund

If at all possible, I would personally prefer to work with the Germans or the French, Greece already screwed enough times. The Chinese has a saying "We are not afraid of godlike enemies, but we are definitely afraid of pig-like teammates." Or you know, in this case, PIIGS.

Record yuan strength hurts Chinese exports, immediate let-up unlikely

To be honest, I think people are way too afraid of bubble this and bubble that. US real estate market bursts something like 2 or 3 times every generation and you don't really that destroying US.

Record yuan strength hurts Chinese exports, immediate let-up unlikely

Erm, 2015 Jan to May Real Estate market sector report is out: 2015年1-5月份全国房地产开发和销售情况 The market is actually slowing down comparing to a few years ago. It certainly doesn't fit the whole "hot money pouring in" description. As for stocks, I am looking at these: 大陆股市_行情首页_新浪财经_新浪网 and long term...

Record yuan strength hurts Chinese exports, immediate let-up unlikely

Well, rising currency will increase the price of export, but as long as it doesn't rise suddenly and uncontrollable, the rising price will be balanced out by reduced cost of raw material import and let's face it, if Yuan truly intends to replace USD, it will have to be a strong and desirable...

Vietnam's K-300P system can attack Chinese targets in Hainan

Sanya is something like 200km from Vietnam. If a land based missile doesn't even that much range, I would be very hard pressed to call it a missile. BTW, by the same argument, Chinese rocket artillery can cover half Vietnam from Sanya. Also, wantchinatimes, enough said.

China tries to censor a disaster(again)

The disaster is reported on CCTV-1. This is equivalent of US government censoring by painting the whole thing on a big banner over the white house and hold a TV special about it.

U.S. government hacked; feds think China is the culprit

I listened to FOX and CNN report on the subject for the past few days. The report from Feds is actually something along the line of "we don't actually know who did it, but it has gotta to be the Chinese." One of the former NSA member actually said out loud that they can't trace this kind of...

65GW of Hydro untapped in the USA

The 65 GW is remaining untapped because two words : red tape. In fact, not only is a lot of hydro untapped, current existing hydro stations are facing increasing amount of red tape and some of them can't obtain the license to continue to operate. The sad thing is, US hydro generation actually...

Will East Asia ever be integrated?

Human history tends to go from small separated society to larger, more integrated ones. There maybe short term regresses, but the overall trend is smaller countries disappearing and bigger countries appearing. The reason is rather simple, larger and more integrated nations are simply stronger...
