Sri Lanka 60th in Propsperity. Comparison to South Asian Countries + China.

I agree! But how did this happen in the first place? Considering India and Sri Lanka had basically identical average conditions even just 40 years ago. It would be an interesting case study.

Sri Lanka 60th in Propsperity. Comparison to South Asian Countries + China.

It is more equivalent to compare Sri Lanka to East Asia and South East Asia rather than South Asia. Anyone know why this is? For example SL ranked higher than Russia, Vietnam, Indonesia and the Phillipines; and slightly less than China, and 16 places off Malaysia. The next South Asian country...

India's 'third gender': A marginalised social class

What is this, 1970? Who cares who is "gayer", there are going to be gay people in all countries at roughly the same rate. I don't care who other people sleep with, it's not my business.

Canada (and possibly even Australia) to surpass India in 2013

I think Australia's 1.541 trillion with just 23 million is just astounding, considering most of the country is desert and only the coastline is habitable.

Actually a better measure than both would be GDP (PPP) per person employed. List of countries by GDP (PPP) per person employed - Wikipedia, the...

Canada (and possibly even Australia) to surpass India in 2013

Interesting. And what are 1+ billion to 20 or 40 million? Such a comparison should be ludicrously unfair to Canada or Australia. That being said, we should all be saddened by this news. If not for the nation of India, then for the sheer level of human suffering brought on by such...
