    HAL LUH| Updates and Discussions

It will come later I'm sure (just like the Rudra) but I don't think there is much of a requirement for it (within India).

What a GORGEOUS machine! Can't wait to see it in IAF grey (the most attractive paint scheme in service in India today IMHO), this paint scheme is really annoying.

Gun fires out side British Parliment multiple casulaties.

This is the most protected public site in the entire UK, i expected a superior response yes given the immense resources given to the Met for counter terror activities. He managed to get inside the parliament and kill a security officer, this is a complete failure IMHO. Imagine if there had been...

Gun fires out side British Parliment multiple casulaties.

This is the SOP these days for Western police forces, remain tight lipped for a few days then let such details trickle out in time once the focus has drifted away, it happened in the Orlando nightclub incident, San Bernidino shootings, Munich shootings etc etc. They know the identity, they just...

    HAL Tejas | Updates, News & Discussions-[Thread 2]

Well that's the plan considering the MK.1A will enter production from 2019/20 and first HAL have to deliver all 40 Mk.1 on order.

    HAL Tejas | Updates, News & Discussions-[Thread 2]

Raju said, “The increased production rate will be visible from 2018 when we will be able to provide 16 planes per year under a Rs 1,300-crore expansion project (at the HAL facility in Bangalore).” The HAL CMD said the second part of the “increase-production plan” is to use the existing...

Made in India military weapons and support systems

The IAF has not made it public what their final wide body AWACS requirement is but by 2030 I imagine there will be 14-15 of them; 2+3+2/3 EL/M-2090 Phalcons + 8 AWACS (India). With the AWACS (India) in production by the middle of the next decade, the IAF will be free to add orders as they see...

Any updates on the Presidential appointment? For the love of god I hope they don't pick another ancient pensioner, the post needs to have someone with some dynamism and charisma.

Made in India military weapons and support systems

I would push the ICG to induct at least 10 (to cover the Indian coastline) but the IAF is not overly interested in it, they view it as a stepping stone to what they really want; a long range AWACS based on a wide body airliner (A330-200) with similar capabilities to their EL/M-2090 Phalcons ie...

    HAL Tejas | Updates, News & Discussions-[Thread 2]

It's a very ambitious target, more than likely they will be closer to 30 by that time but by the end of 2019 production will start to really ramp up (>16/year). The 2024-5 target will be met. Yes, they can be upgraded to the MK.1A spec with little work, it will be the IAF's call, I'm not sure...

Maybe the ICG should be looking at this system for the future, during testing the Netra was able to detect 500 ships in one mission off the West coast: Not a bad capability to have at all especially post-26/11.

These Are the World’s Most Influential Countries

India 16th, wtf? Behind Switzerland, Turkey, Saudia Arabia, UAE, S.Korea, Israel and Canada! (India's economy and military is easily larger than all of them). This is utter nonsense: For much of 2016, India, the world's largest democracy, was also home to the world's fastest-growing major...
