    Gaza-Israel Conflict | October 2023

I think those violations (desecration, settler violence in WB) should be aggressively pursued by fellow Arab states in international fora, rather than by Hamas. They should demand cessation for supplying oil for example to Israel. Economic sanctions by Arab states and Turkey will be much more...

    Gaza-Israel Conflict | October 2023

Difficult to compare as presidential year elections get higher turnout and greater publicity. They are also affected by coattail effect. Hence, if Biden wins (my prediction, if Trump is the opponent), Democrats may do better than 2022. But Biden is a weak candidate, and the Republicans are so...

I was very confident that the 'pussy' tape will sink him. In earlier years Chappaquiddick had haunted Ted Kennedy all his life, so I thought 'moral' turpitude is a goner. But Bill Clinton changed everything. In the end, it was a submicroscopic electoral college win, 25,000 votes could have...

International manhunt on as Chinese National flees US after fatal car crash

That was a case of Diplomatic immunity. Countries protect that jealously, sometimes even when the case is utterly obvious. But if that woman was not diplomat's wife, she would have been sent to U.K. to stand trial by the next plane after receiving extradition request.

I did exactly that with someone in 2016 (about Trump) and lost $100. Now I no longer believe in a rational world in politics.

Yes, that was last month. All honeymoons come to an end.

    Gaza-Israel Conflict | October 2023

For 2024, if Biden loses sizeable youth share of votes who are not bitten by this "Love Israel at any cost" bug, he will be skating on thin ice. He has many negatives already: age, economy, etc., His greatest fortune is his opponent may be Trump. But no point trying to alienate a significant...

    Gaza-Israel Conflict | October 2023

There is always a public side and private side. It is sort of a 'marriage'. Secretary of State going to Israel means he is carrying some tough love message. Things have to change or else this facade of unconditional support will crack.

He seems to have a special talent for putting both his feet into his mouth. This is not at all unusual for him to say some really ugly things. He ran against Trump in 2016 primaries and was calling Trump crazy, now he has replaced Christ with Trump in his altar for worship.

The fact that she is blabbering it to strangers suggests she is traumatized and likely mentally unwell. A war like this is stressful for everyone and will traumatize and depress many people. I think they should be considered mentally unwell and not someone expressing political opinion.

That was before; But U.S. Congress will not write one more check if they think they are being ignored. Everything looks placid on the surface, Behind the curtain, I am sure they are wondering when and how will this madness end.

    Gaza-Israel Conflict | October 2023

I think if the international community really wants it (P5 for example), it can be done. I am sure they are smart enough to realize an endless war is no fun for them, especially if they have to get it financed from someone else. The 'financiers' can demand we need a different option. U.S. went...

Thank you; that is what I was thinking. It is like English, French and Spanish, one can survive (due to many Latin origin words) but not really understand much.

That is why I introduced 'Guarantees'; I think the parties lack confidence in each other for stability to last. Some strong neutral presence may offer some hope. Israel will get protection from Hamas and Gaza will get protection from settler violence etc., UN Peacekeepers have done such work before.

To the extent that Farsi is sufficiently intelligible to the people in all those chairs?

I think it is a good start and it will be better if it transitions into a ceasefire with some guarantees. Even a North/South Korea style standoff is better than endless inhuman war.

What may be the possible designs of an off-ramp that can at least stop the war temporarily?

What targets are left after 26 days? I have difficulty believing there is any military value in all those explosions. The war machine seems still fueled by rage.

International manhunt on as Chinese National flees US after fatal car crash

No, if two Non-Chinese go to China and commit a mischief that matters not a whit to Chinese, why not collect the evidence and send it to the country of foreigners for prosecution and call it job done? What is the interest of Chinese to investigate, prosecute and keep the foreigner for the...
