‘The EU cannot defend Europe’: NATO chief

    1. Except there are not a single serially manufactured APS fitted tank yet. 2. How do you drop that ATGM team to its AO? You still need armour to survive the artillery firewall in front of the tank unit. 3. EU NATO members rely on advanced helicopters instead of fixed wing for search&destroy...

Tory leadership race for new PM all posts.

Yes, Postal vote can be the final surprise, as it always did. We now think of Tory elites as cosmopolitan, and deeply Desified, but mainstream Tory is completely opposite, with a lot of plain bigots, xenophobes, and "will not vote a non-white unless he's a prod" I read that first Indians to...

    Russia-Ukraine thread Part 2

It will be an extremely expensive surface to surface missile. No wonder, they are really desperate to trade air defence strength for such poor stand off firepower. S300 makes a very poor rocket artillery for the price. Only 100kg HE+frag, and 30km-40km of reliable command guidance. Compare it...

‘The EU cannot defend Europe’: NATO chief

I agree, but I am not an average European. An average European whose opinion matters is really not somebody you can easily characterise. EU's opinions now vary from "Invade Russia now!" to hysterical panic. I knew some Tory connected upstarts who tell it was a complete shock for UK elites to...

    Russia-Ukraine thread Part 2

Would the poor of the world blame some small pee pee politician half the world away for their problems? No... they usually have somebody to blame just few kilometres from them, and for a good reason. African countries lacking food, when Sudan alone having more agricultural lands than Europe...

Israel's Iron Dome won't work against Russian missiles - Ukraine's defense minister

Dome can is exactly what you need to shoot down MLRS missiles. One problem though, 1 dome missile = 2 grad reloads with Bulgarian, or Norinco missiles by cost

Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments PART 2

There is 1 nation on Russian border to which losing 50 million people will only mean losing 3.5% of population. Far less than any European nation paid for its territorial expansion.

Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments PART 2

Russian losses in military hardware are inching ever closer to 40% of their total. They effectively lost 3 full armies there, out of 10 armies they have. I did a bit of research of how much real are the Russian armies, and came to conclusion that 2 armies they had in the Far East are for all...

Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments

Then, it's moreover a priority target. A Doolitle raid is needed more for terror effect, than for actual damage. So far, the war been without any personal cost to Russian upper classes, who see no impact on their daily lives, and this there were no elite revolt so far. Them having a stake in...

Boris Johnson to stand down as Tory leader after wave of resignations

Yep, as I said: in British style parliaments, leaders are far more vulnerable to internal revolts than to external opposition. Backbenchers are the real "3rd party" in the house

Boris Johnson to stand down as Tory leader after wave of resignations

5? Not bad for a 58 years old, I would be envious Priti is not Indian, she is Ugandian With pretty much the whole of South Asia in the cabinet, you only miss a Bangladeshi for a full house. But as far as I know Bangladeshis in UK are nearly all rooting for Labour for historical reasons...

Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments

Weakness on display, I wonder if anybody i. the West can read it. The guy basically says: we lost 1/3 of our standing military just to start fighting for real. Any other rouge polity would've been railroaded immediately if they made such bad bluff.

Russia-Ukraine War - News and Developments

Hu got the job exactly because he was a complete nobody, and stayed a powerless eunuch through his reign. Massive artillery barrages reported this evening across the front. It's almost as if Russians are trying to tell: you haven't blown up all of our ammo yet!

Boris Johnson to stand down as Tory leader after wave of resignations

I have to disagree. The chair was shaking under Khan. Were his performance even half as bad, he wouldn't have seen so much desertions. Here UK's, and Pakistan's parliaments look rather similar: leaders are many times more vulnerable to internal revolts than direct opposition.

Boris Johnson to stand down as Tory leader after wave of resignations

Indeed, I am surprised with this completely improbably outcome — I cannot see these guys themselves being able to hold onto that job for more than a few months, yet they did it.

Boris Johnson to stand down as Tory leader after wave of resignations

Will it be Rishi, Sajid, Priti & co. now? So, hail our new desi overlords  One remarkable thing Raab is likely out. It will be a grand political failure, the guy spent half his life looking at PM's chair
