Instead of buying think what you could have sold to Ukraine instead
Where are all those forum economists that kept saying we have ALL the money in the world to keep "buying" stuff using loans. Lets see what happens as those loans start coming due.
Wondering why we are not seeing more JF-17...
H-2 and H-4 are antiquated imo and not the best option for newer aircraft, unless their guidance systems can be updated. Raad would be an ideal candidate, however, unless we see its integration and operationalization in PAF its hard to say. I feel its still an ongoing technology demonstrator...
Yes and no. It's A-A loadout is just average of any medium sized fighter, ie 6 missiles and tanks not impressive but just standard/expected.
Every aircraft has to be in the running for that. J-10 will be too. It's multirole.
If memory serves me right, weren't those pre-MLU F-16s and early tranche Typhoons? Also pilot proficiency would matter a lot of dog fights (as in the number of hours) so I wouldn't draw many conclusions from an exercise result.
I would expect these rates to go back up as their legacy fleet goes through Block 70 standard modernization, which will replace a lot of systems that would be now harder to maintain or get spares for as they are no longer being manufactured.
Well looks like the CH-13 (which was a US C-130E and now on static display), acquired as an attrition replacement was retired in 2021 after a total of 25,740 flying hours. That was most certainly not a young bird.
The fleet has flown extensively and the total hours are around 285,000...
Yes, I've been advocating PAF buying surplus hercs for a while now. Was just hoping we would be able to get newer J variant but my guess is they will go to other NATO members or even India
Well aware of how it works thanks. I guess this is a beggars can't be choosers reality in action. And yes I would have preferred the J's over these. Regardless, PAF is desperately short on transport aircraft esp since we have lost C-130s in the recent years so any addition is welcome.
It wasn't...
