agreed..thats why I said its foolish to compare akash with Patriot, but again PAC 3 has too short a range to be compared with Akash.

though I agree both look almost the same, but IMO flanker is a better looking bird..you got to compare them when they are flying..have seen both very closely..MKI beats MIG29 .

Patriot has a range almot same as Akash, but the advanced patriotic missile (probably upgraded one) have range of approx 100miles , which is more than double of our Akash system.

Isnt this the two tiered missile shield that you are talking about..the advanced air defence (AAD) and Prithvi air defence (PAD) ??? well, then again this isnt releveant...cause these will intercept ballistic missiles at both lower and higher level but the max range will be approx. 80...

currently, NO !! we were approached, but the offered was refused. In future more SAM development programmes with Israel coming up but no S-400 as of now.

no urgency till we are mature enough to stop creating thread like these where we start comparing ourselves with US on the basis of a single missile. BTW seriously was used to focus more on indigenousitaion than the need of the missiles.

we seriously need some indigenous long range SAMs. we cannot depend barak2/barak8 totally..moreover these are medium range SAMs.

BTW we have some russian long range S-300...nothing of our own which is of long range.

No Barak 2 will be longest with around 80 kms.
