I agree with you that a single WS-15 is a good option, but I was responding to his point about TWR, single WS-15 does not have more thrust then 2xWS-19. As for PLA I'd agree single WS-15 makes a lot of sense in terms of cost and maintenance.

Single WS-15 design would makes sense for China, since it uses same engine as J-20, I kinda hope CAC design something like that.

When you say small wings, you mean small wing span or small wing chord? Those means very different things. For example changing to delta wings with same span but higher sweep angle will reduce wing-loading, however it will not produce more lift, merely reduce trans-sonic drag at the cost of...

It's ok, ppl can think what ever they want. Besides no one here is involved in the actual decision making, so it's not like we're losing billion dollar deal over some internet debate... getting overly emotional is just bad for your health. Lets keep discussions focused on technical issues.

Good stuffs. However with networking abilities, stealths can have a little more flexible tactics. One classic tactic would be for a pair of 5th gen to operate their radar in alternation: One fighter engage radar to locate and track opponents while the other one get into position silently to get...

Hard kill laser might be too early to say here, but his idea about using laser range finder in conjunction with irst/eodas is a valid one, using laser to ping every suspicious contact from radar or IR is a good way to keep track of stealth planes. Current LO design can't be all aspect LO, there...

J-20 probably have similar energy characteristic to J-10 in subsonic regime, in super-sonic regime J-20 would be a class of her own even with just WS-10B engine. So it;s not that she can't dog fight, its just not her strong suit compared to other 5th gen (except fat lightning haha...) Newer...

All that is true to a certain degree, depends on the designer to decide whether the gain of pitch authority and vortex lift in high AoA is worth the cost. A pure delta would definitely has the least drag. On that note I think the Russian movable LERX on their Su-57 is an interesting design...

Well, plane design is a game of trade-off, SAC could easily put larger wings on J-31, but then it would not be able to super-cruise... besides wing-loading could be a little deceptive in 5th gen design since they all incorporate lifting body design where the fuselage may contribute some amount...

Indeed China and Pakistan has vastly different requirements, J-20 is the way it is due to our air doctrine, west pacific is her natural playground: super-cruise in, BVR snipe some dude, super-cruise out. Hence the emphasis on speed and range, decent subsonic maneuverability yet supreme...

Fanart or not, this layout does make a certain amount of sense. If V-tail provide elevon input then this would be like a tri-plane design like Su-30SM/MKI, should be pretty maneuverable. V-tail completely aft of main wing should also provide great high-alpha stability. I believe Saab is going...

Concept of stealth drones as force multiplayers indo-pak scenario

Good post. Also ISR drones will be the most important element in future air-battle, AWACs nowadays are extremely vulnerable from enemy stealth fighter and extremely long range missile like PL-XX. I simply don't see AWACs can survive, if you think the lost of fighter pilots is painful, think...

    Coastal ASW with Drones

Yeah, combining UAV with SOSUS would make a lot more sense. However I'd still prefer drone ship: While SOSUS network could potentially have larger detection range than drone ship due to utilizing under water sound convergent channels, drone ship is more flexible. If you want to sweep a certain...

    Coastal ASW with Drones

I believe unmanned boat carrying passive/active sonar patrolling coastal sea will be better, Aerial vehicles without dipped/dropped sonar can only spot surfaced subs.

Good to see things from your perspective, great post! I do think things may go differently this time though (I'm a Chinese, may have bias...). It's not only that Chinese are mostly atheist, the truth is most Chinese don't care about other's religion. The idea is live and let live, you do your...
