Yes, the big problem in Vietnam is corruption and government incompetence. I'll leave in about 10 days.

VN has the best air defenses of ASEAN, best submarine force too, but weak in surface ships. Air force not too bad, but small.

The best navy and air force in ASEAN is Singapore. Indo air force is small now but posed to grow a lot.

The problem to evaluate the VN military is that they hide everything (I think to cover up corruption) so its hard to say what they have.

Still, there is no doubt that VN army is an strong force and even China would not think seriously about invading VN.

VN has a very small defense budget but its using it well and I believe the defense industry will grow a lot.
