sorry i missed earlier.. A design has come with approx 85000 tonnes displacement with a total fleet of 70 birds. Its suppose to have a short stobar and 2 catapults. The russians are actually making the right noise due to the reactor stuff bcz with that its able to pass the package of 190 MW bigger Akula 2 to our hands easily. On top, historically in 80s they did try catapult design but stopped it

The second issue Idnai is facing is the high cost of EMALs in terms of capital cost of procurement and maintenance as compared to steam catapults. Teh hitch being so far CATOBAR application to Russian Naval jets is zero so thats something which needs to be certified. But that fits right into IN needs whose eyes are set on Rafale M

In reality Russians are keen to sell us the design and then India builds the carrier and they set up shops of OEM and participate in Make in India successfully. Meaning you pay the price for the design and the rest also for MII.

Russia's expertise is basically towards a carrier which supports lots of plane and lots of missiles, particularly LR SAMs and VLS capables CM/BMs. Now the design has certain aspects which are very interesting

If you wish to look at small stobar, obviously its for the aircraft which can take off from the shortest available runway.. So simply they will push Mig29K or Mig35 for that. The Catapults go well with either PAKFA naval or our own other jets which are catapult certified.

But as far as i understand i doubt Migs will be able to lift off fully loaded.. Now thats not something you wish for a carrier ops.. i mean either compromise on fuel or in ammo.. Secondly, even though there is a higher chance of reactor and other tech being shared, the experience of Vikramaditya and Mig29K has not been so smooth..
