Hi on the Turkey thread i did not say that Islam is against modernity, i wanted to comment on the real political challenges in leading the muslim nations - particulalrly for a country like Turkey, I think Practicalguy nailed it.
I also wanted to say that there's vast difference between being a political leader and a thought leader, though i should have elaborated more.
BTW I've been to turkey and liked it. Was beaten up by a bunch of armenian guys in king suleyman's (visited by him) hamam too
