Work on INDIA's BULLET TRAIN is underway in Full Swing

Yea I find that stupid af too. It should be from Delhi to Bombay but our Chakravartin needs to give to his janmabhumi first.
The project is Mumbai to Delhi. The distance is 1600 kms.

The Mumbai to Ahmedabad is part of the Project - distance is around 500-600 kms.

Bullet trains will join major cities between Mumbai and Delhi. Mumbai, Ahmedabad, Jodhpur, Jaipur, Delhi.

How about Agra??

They're not connecting Agra with bullet train.
Semi HSR is the plan there. Delhi-Agra

Supid decision imho. The golden triangle should be connected by bullet trains for tourists.

Jaipur Delhi is already going to be connected with HSR. It comes in the Mumbai-Delhi route.

Agra is 70 minutes away in Semi-HSR (150-160kmph). The train tracks are being modified away.

You want a bullet train for a 1 Hour and 10 minute journey?

Yea why not. At 350km/hr it will take ~40 minutes. That's great for tourists, especially if the station is right next to the Taj. Then they can catch a HS to Jaipur, Udaipur, Jodhpur.

Disagree. The costs don't justify the return. A majority of tourists use the new Delhi-Agra expressway despite great rail connectivity.

A HSR between Delhi-Agra will never ever get any returns. Ridiculously higher cost for what reduction of 20 -30 minute time?
Not to mention for HSR, completely new tracks need to be laid.
It would never be economically viable.

IMHO a survey should be connect at least. I feel it will be successful as tourists will use it. Currently they don't use trains because they are dirty.

That would depend on the cost of petrol and the relative cost of electricity.

The future do not belong to crude oil.

That will depend on how much you trust the chinese state media to report the truth about bullet train accidents.

I don't. Do you ?

Some people are just unbelieveably stupid.

I have been travelling by trains in China for at least 50 times. Not once have I experienced a journey where not at least a hand full of foreigners were in that train ride. Even if the Chinese gov. black outs the news, what hinders the foreigners or their respective govs to report the accident where their nationals were involved and possibly injured or killed?

Secondly, any big accident means that the tracks will be blocked for days if not weeks until repair works are done. In the mean time, thousands of angered tourists and travellers, foreign as well as domestic, will fill up the internet fanning their anger and demand an explanation why their paid trip had to be cancelled.

Sorry. I still don't trust the chinese state media or its 50 cent bots or the quality of stuff produced in China.

Don't feel sorry about your own stupidity.

I'm sure the 68 million foreign tourists in 2016 visiting China know a tad more.

Though not updated, but as per the approved plan, HSR will connect Ahmadabad to Jaipur which will be further connected to Delhi completing first leg of diamond quadrilateral. Further Mumbai to Pune onward to Chennai via Bangluru. Chennai to Kolkata and Kolkata to Delhi via Patna, Varanasi, Lucknow, Agra,

1-Traffic
2-Money factor(Bangalore, Hyderabad and Chennai have also this point)
3-Flat terrain
4-Land acquisition
5-Relatively stable in terms of the seismic fluctuations
6-Safe from Naxal issues
7-Surat(diamond hub) and Vadodara in middle
8-Almost straight route
9-Population density with working people

Indian Railways to roll out ‘Make in India’ 160 kmph self-propelled ‘world-class’ train sets at half the cost of import!
Indian Railways is all set to roll out a ‘first of its kind’ semi-high speed self-propelled train set! Yes, the Integral Coach Factory (ICF) will ‘Make in India’ the EMUs (Electric Multiple Units) that can travel at speeds of up to 160 kmph. According to ICF, the train sets will allow for quicker acceleration and will be a technological leap for the coach factory. The train sets are currently in the design stage and will start getting manufacturing some time in 2018. For this reason, Indian Railways has codenamed the project as ‘Train-2018’. What makes these train sets special, apart from the fact that they mark a leap for ICF, is that they will be manufactured at “half the cost” if the same were to be imported!

The new train will have 16 fully air-conditioned coaches, and will boast of ‘world-class’ passenger amenities. Proposed for inter-city superfast travel, the train sets will replace locomotive-hauled intercity express trains. The train sets will have ‘Automatic Plug-Type’ doors which will open and close automatically at the stations. Like most chair cars, the train will have wide windows.
Keeping in mind passenger entertainment, Indian Railways proposes to equip the new train sets with onboard Wi-fi and infotainment. The train will also boast of GPS-based Passenger Information System to keep passengers informed about the location of the train. “The new train will have world-class facilities for passengers. The train will have plush interiors and diffused LED lighting. The toilets of these coaches will be fitted with zero discharge vaccum based bio-toilets and touch free fittings,” an ICF official told FE Online.

Keeping in mind passenger entertainment, Indian Railways proposes to equip the new train sets with onboard Wi-fi and infotainment. “The train set will be equipped with under slung 3 Phase IGBT based propulsion system which is energy efficient. Train 2018 will also offer more passenger space,” the ICF official said. All coaches of Train-18 will be inter-connected by fully sealed gangways. This will allow passengers to move from one coach to another with ease.
Additionally, ICF is looking to equip the train sets with improved mechanical couplers and modern bogies. “This will help keep the jerks and vibrations at bay,” the official said. “The train will have fully suspended traction motors, pneumatic secondary suspension and anti-roll bar. The brake system will be Electro Pneumatic, which will reduce the braking distance, so that full speed potential of the train can be harnessed,” the official said, adding that Train-2018 will have “many modern features which will debut for the first time on Indian Railways”.
