India holds fire on China opposition to NSG bid, hopes for dragon nod

NSG is already a meaningless monopolistic gang. Every nation has the right to deal in whatever they want. How is it that deal in nuclear items/tech becomes legal when you are a member of a group and illegal if you are not? Plain stupid and extortionist

China simply does not care whether pakistan is in or not. They simply want to block India and pakistan is their excuse. Who in sane mind would allow a nuclear proliferator like pakistan into NSG. NSG would have no meaning at all.

China to India: Okey, we will not oppose your NSG candidature, provided you give us a promise to NOT VETO Pakistan's bid in the future.

What would India commit to this?

I think yes.
India has seen in its own case that ultimately you have to convince each and every member individually to get the final nod.
So hypothetically, if China proposes the same and India agrees to it, the onus still remains with nation seeking membership to get everybody else on their side.
But the big question remains, is Pak interested to seek membership? Theoretically speaking, any growing nation requires these technologies to not only meet their electricity demands but also honor commitments to cutting GHG emissions. but how does N power fit into future plans of energy planning, is something quite unknown.

PS: Current N non proliferation regime IMHO is extremely flawed. While it doesn't have much say in activities of Big 5, it puts tremendous and in some cases unreasonable pressure on countries seeking entry in main stream N frame work. Plus does NPT guarantee a fool proof mechanism against proliferation. The answer would be NO.

Hasn't that always been the case? :P

Nehru pleaded for US help in 1962 - Times of India

And India hasn't been shy about trying to poke China in the SCS either.

Now you think we are such idiots that we will suddenly give India what they want without anything in return?

That's the joke of the century. If you want the NSG seat, the UNSC seat, you're not getting it for free. What are you going to give us in return? And I'm talking about something real, not BS political fluff.

And please don't tell me that we'll get India's "good will" (again). Even political fluff would be better than that. Why don't you sell your house in exchange for "Indian good will" if you think it is worth anything.

Seriously man, what is with you and laughing green man? Everytime?

On topic

This is a game being played, and our diplomats, PM are playing their cards very well. And i'm sure china also played few of their card well with pushing pakistan forward.

You can always veto any country but that is not going to increase your clout, remember 2008 when you started with big mouth as usual and then buckled under pressure. We got a NSG waiver back then the nuclear deal went through smoothly and you kept on rubbing your hands.

We can offer much more than just a land route and an undeveloped but crown jewel port to any country wants to be friends with us. We got friends and you know them very well. Last time as well no one actually denied India-US agreement and as i said earlier, it went through so you know we got friends.

You can and will oppose all you want, neither you or us are idiots. You want to be next USA with your political and diplomatic clout spreading outside Asia and keeping India in Asia.
We have idiots sitting on our western border.

We have just started to poke you and it seems it is hurting a lot. Lots of discussion about India in chinese media and your big mouth state owned agency is churning articles about India a lot these days.
There are better days ahead of us, its the matter of choice whether you want to be with us or not?

And stop the laughing green man. Its not funny when you do too much of it, add it in your signature.

Hmmm.... how about no? :P

The last time we relied on Indian "good will", Nehru attacked us while we were in the middle of the worst famine in our history.

And since you guys are so confident you will get the NSG seat, I don't get what all the crying is about. Unless you know in your heart that you're lying to yourselves.

If you really want the NSG seat, the UNSC seat, etc. then you need to figure out what you will give us in return, that is not just talk and BS. Because as of right now, you are simply expecting it for free, and that's not how the world works.

Spiritual touch from a so called tough talker? And again that toothless green laughing man, huh? you are toothless just like that man, and laughing.

Remember 2008, we were there so as you. We won the game

So right now the scorecard is 1-0 in favor of India, buckle up bring your A game and see what happens in next few days. Even if we dont get what we want it will be still 1-1 score.
Lets see.

If you don't want India's goodwill then perhaps India's hostility will change your mind.

We'll see either way.

Who is crying? nonsense and idiot toothless man,

In fact the world is aligning with us.

As i said on another thread, remember 2008. You were there, we were there and we won. Score is 1-0 in our favor, bring on your best game on 22nd June.

I thought Chinese members like you claimed India and China were not enemies... I guess your stance changes with every other thread. As for your question whether it was always the case or not.... well then the answer is No.. India and China at best can be (or atleast till now) could be called competitors in the region but definitely not enemies.

and what poking are you talking about ? You started the game in IOR and git the taste of your own medicine.

Oh wait...did I think you are suddenly an idiot to give India what it wants? No I didnt...but... Please dont be one by objecting to everything that India needs to grow itself. The consequence of this poking is what will turn the game ugly.

Oh .... so you want something in return ?? sorry not giving... now you wanna vote against India in NSG ??... please be my guest... ok let me telll you this... India already expects China to vote against it... the veto will just clear once and for all, any doubt India has about we being enemies rather than competitors. But sadly for China its enemies have been countries like Philippines and Vietnams and the 'Defence' forces of Japan....this one mistake China should have not made and for whom ?? your all weather friend Pakistan..lol.. even you realise where the future is going with that.
