What's new

AL-KHALID MBT gets VARTA APS and HIT will be manufacturing Textron TAPV.

sorry to interrupt but what is VARTA &
Textron TAPV ??:undecided:
Textron is an American manufacturer of armored vehcile
TAPV stands for tactical armored patrol vehicle (something which our tin can troop carierrs are not)
VARTA is an active protection system for inbound projectiles and missiles that are IR based or based on line of sight.

Alkhalid armor and remaining ballistics totally change. It seems body is little wide giving impression of Type99. hhhmmmmmmm its all photo impression.

It seems they have changed Al-Khalid shape a lot because it is quite different to what I have seen till now

It's the same the only difference is the add on wedge shaped armour on the turret has been replaced with Varta. @Dazzler wouldn't that reduce armour protection of the turret?

There is lot of stuff we can buy from NATO I think we are not seeing and JV and indigenous armored vehicle if can get those our auto sector and HIT is quite capable of maintaining it and we can also do reverse engineering...

Al-Khalid looks lot changed its look like Russian type 99...

Wait wait wait, hold on. If Pakistan has been manufacturing this particular APC, why haven't we seen hide nor hair of the TAPV in Pakistani inventory? Surely if this was supposed to be a secret (which I doubt), at least we'd get a small leak or report about it.

Good news against Naag ATGM.
Do India have such tech for T90 and T72? Or is our Baktar Shikan a sure kill?

If this is not Al Khalid 1 than How good Al Khalid 1 will be for that we have to wait for IDEX 2014
By the way, the tank barrel's cross-section is oval, not circular, which means that the picture is stretched. And so the tank isn't actually wider as it appears to be.

varta can be mounted over era blocks, similar to t-84, they dont use era in peacetime usually.

I admit the title is not that great but still i posted first, in short a thread is running already!
Guys you missed it!
@RAMPAGE
Also, varta is old now.
