Nawaz Sharif pushing Pakistan back to 1999

Once Pakistan's foreign reserves are depleted and is bankrupt, then people will realize that they made a mistake. So wait for it.

Lets keep religion out of this. The article itself is written by a Mush sympthizer or one who has had profit during dictatorships. Regardless, the current situation is much more fluid than given. Nawaz Sharif may be consolidating power but that all depends on his advisory panel. in 99 it was Saif-ur-Rehman and others that sank him, perhaps if he takes too many idiots on board he will sink again.
However, it is better to be done democratically. The Current situation with the Taliban may very well be a way to buy time to stabilize the economy before plunging again into the sureshot chaos that is to follow any operation.

Musharraf is only reaping what he sowed, nothing less, nothing more. However, I feel that he has been humiliated enough and should not be allowed to leave. This will not only show NS as the bigger man, but really what can you accomplish with a 70 something publicly humiliated retired general. Let him go see his mother.

I think you meant he should be allowed to leave!! I agree with the notion, this is an open and shut case (since supreme court in its detailed judgement has pretty much sealed it) best way forward imho is that he get sentenced and gets presidential pardon the same day. I greatly abhor dictators but have no desire to see a 70 year old hanged or jailed.

Yes, Corrected.

It would also show that unlike dictators who hanged People like Bhutto under contrived charges.. or barred NS from visiting his ailing father... the Civilian leadership has much more humility to let these strayed military men have some ounce of respect and dignity.

Heh wrong, half of my family belongs to armed forces yet I want fair democracy instead of dictatorship so please don't blame every person who belong and is related to armed forces. nawaz sharif can't make Pakistan heavens not in a million years hell he couldn't turn punjab in paris what to talk of heavens/paradise with 6 times rule in Punjab and 3rd timers federally, so definitely all the bad mouthing is due and right.

PS. this nawaz that some people worship has multiple huge malls in saudi arabia, turkey, UK, europe, dubai yet he can't open cheap nawaz utility stores in Pakistan for common Pakistanis such as dollar store. Change is not roads, bringing taxis or stupid metro bus service...change is that poor people have food to eat, education schools/colleges, technical training schools, free medicine and treatment, low cost dwellings, clean water and alot of other things which mr. sharif is ignoring.

I knew there will be lots of you(s), but the funny thing is I belong to one also and I hear it all the time
I hear about the perks, I hear about the favors, I hear about the deals, I hear about is ko yahan bharty kerwa dya, us ko wahan bharty kerwa dia, Brigadier saab is running that dept and major general saab is the head of this dept, irrespective of their qualifications.

I, Once was a strong supporter of Army rules but then I grew up when I realize this is the reason Pakistan is in this mess...Sri Lanks, Bangladesh are getting ahead of us and if we dont learn now then two decades from now Afghans will make fun of us.

Agreed, the point is to show that law may uphold for anyone including a dictator. The presidential pardon is a logical given nobody is interested in hanging an old and now broken guy. The purpose is not to look back but to look forth and set an example for stopping extra-constitution actions.

But you are wrong, you can't point finger to each and every family and their relatives who belong to Armed Forces that is just baloney. Well I can tell you about perks and Pays but you wouldn't understand...

Janab do you think khawaja asif has qualification to head Defense Ministry? Do you think nawaz's daughter has qualification to be head of youth loan [actually loath] scheme, do you think abid showda deserves the post of Minister power/water ministry...I can list you all of them and their background non deserve to be on the posts they are simply put.

No one ever says anything about everyone, you talk about the majority
for the rest of your post, I agree with you i guess they dont, lets bring the army again.

You should read carefully I mentioned europe. Khawa makhwa chircara mut bano bahi, everyone knows where his business investments are. Be neutral and tell us what change and revolutionary change he brought to Pakistan 6 times provincially and 3rd time federally not in a billion years can i ever compare pml-n to Erdogan's Justice and Dev Party.

a serious question .. do average Pakistani really dislike Democracy or is it because of ZArdari and Nawaz types !

It's the likes of Zardari that make the average Pakistanis reconsider democracy. At the end of the day, the common man wants roti, kapra, makan, bijli, sehat and talim, whether that comes from a civilian or a military government.

What the common man should realize is that all these things he wants are achieved through lots of hard work inside a working social system over decades and decades. A mere change of government or two, or longer game of musical chairs between faujis and politicos will never magically grant him any of it in short order.

Demo Crazy cannot work for Pakistan. The 6.4 years of on going demo crazy has proved it again. Compare these years of demo crazy with Musharraf era & you will find out that from Rupee value to economic growth to law & order everything was 1000 times better in Musharraf era.
