That will never happen. The only thing that will happen is that they will both grow-up or grow-out of it.

Kashmir is between India and Pakistan what Germany was between USA and Russia during cold war. It will always be on a simmer, but will never boil.. The only permanent settlement will come when one of India and Pakistan will become inconsequential like USSR became at the end of cold war..

First of all, it's good that no civilians were hurt. Regardless of the cause, it is unfortunate that these attacks are mounted while civilians are around.

As for Kashmir -> Afghanistan, I doubt it simply because India clamps down hard on foreign press and any action by Indian military will be off-camera, brutal and extensive. The victims caught in the crossfire from either side will be the civilians, as usual.

what do you say about the post 2014 scenario. there is a lot of talk especially from your countrymen about the increased militancy in Kashmir post 2014.whereas my countrymen talk abiut the sanctions that pak will face.

Kashmir will NEVER be the next Afghanistan. It's just too beautiful for that stuff...lol...but idk, all I know is that the US would support an independent Kashmir because that would be in the US's interest as well

US has already back tracked from poking its nose into Kashmir. Obama made a pitch for it in his first run and he backed away, later India successfully got Kashmir removed form the Af-Pak brief. Unless the States wan't to completely deflate the bilateral relationship it enjoys with India it will take no such steps. Besides the Americans have been reaffirming their stand that this is a bilateral issue between Indian and Pakistan for the last two decades now. To expect them to intervene would be naive.

Even post-2014, US will retain some presence in Afghanistan and the larger presence in the Gulf. The US geopolitical calculus of favoring India and cutting Pakistan down to size won't change after 2014, so the US will take any opportunity -- in Kashmir or Afghanistan -- to put Pakistan on the spot.

India will also try to raise China's concerns by linking militancy in Kashmir with potential trouble in Xinjiang.
