At 9:06 a.m. MST March 28, 2012, an Air Force F-15E Strike Eagle crashed approximately 15 miles outside of a base in Southwest Asia, killing the pilot.

Capt. Francis "Piston" Imlay, pilot deployed with the 380th Air Expeditionary Wing, died from injuries received during the crash.

"It is with a heavy heart I inform you we lost a valued member of the Gunfighter family yesterday," said Col. Ron Buckley, 366th Fighter Wing commander. "Today we mourn the loss of one of our warriors, and our thoughts and prayers are with his family, friends and coworkers during this time. He was a true professional and his dedication to the Gunfighter family will not soon be forgotten."

Imlay, a native of Vacaville, Calif., was assigned to the 391st Fighter Squadron "Bold Tigers" and played a vital role in supporting Operation Enduring Freedom.

More than 300 Mountain Home AFB Airmen remain deployed in support F-15E overseas contingency missions designed to deliver combat air power for joint operations and to meet ground commander requirements.

The cause of this incident is still under investigation.

Rest In Peace, soldier.

Fighting hundreds of miles away from home is not for the faint-hearted or the weak-kneed.

Americans soon will come with some technical fault as all of their previous losses :)

I wont say RIP as he was in Afghanistan to kill innocent people so he also met his fate...

i wont buy this and any other story where people think dead one was on the right path, he died and he had killed innocent people as well ... another killing machine died

Dear Lord, forgive them, for they know not what they do.

Lo ji, pahonch gaya Amreekyo ka Chamcha... and what a retarded excuse you've provided.

I don't know what to say... they were in Afghanistan to kill and butcher innocent people.

The guy was a professional soldier serving his country, when you join your country's armed forces, you do not pick and choice your deployments, RIP - dude.

Those making mocking statements should cease, it reflects badly on you.

just read the comment above yours and you will know the answer , you need....

A life is a life, and every one must value it. In war soldier fight for country pride..

Once Bonapart said "Soldier lay there life for two inch color ribbon". First part , I don't care, US can make many F15. Second part I don't care, US can train many pilots.

But third part I do care, the wife can not make another husband, The son can not make another father. The mother can not make another son..

Please have some respect for soldiers. If you abuse American pilot, they can also abuse you shaheeds.

Brother - I now there have been cases of horrible injustice, but it wrong to paint all the US forces, like that - I know a few US personnel serving and retired - some of them hate this war, but they have signed up to serve and have no choice, that is the price to pay when you are a member of a citizen army, like I said, you don't get to pick and chose your deployments.
