India instrumental in toning down resolution against SL: PM to Rajapaksa

Other countries have enough shame not to try....

We could see that in your wonderful lip service to Pakistan each time something big happened to them. Don't teach us foreign policy, mate. It will get you nowhere.

Pakistan hid Osama Bin Laden within shouting distance of its most important military academy. All the while telling the world how committed Pakistan is to fighting Islamic terrorism. All the while accepting American money and weapons.

Be careful when trying to label India as a backstabbing nation.

Why the F**K are we even explaining to them..? It's like a CEO explaining to the janitor in one big emotional letter how recession has affected his fortunes, how his wife is scolding him and only that why he had to fire him from his job, with a heavy heart, while he should have just fired his sorry *** out and carried on with his work.

This is India at its best Diplomacy. They are masters of backstabbing a Nation at the same time smiling and telling the victim that India has their best interest at heart and that getting Backstabbed is really in the best interest of the victim nation. More and more countries are finding out for themselves what pakistan has been saying for decades.

Diplomacy is the art of telling a person that his forthcoming trip to hell will look like a stroll in Times Square.

And I also know that Pakistani "diplomats" would kill themselves to acquire that skill.

So, by voting for the resolution India actually helped Sri Lanka more than any of the countries that voted against it. The resolution would have passed regardless of whether India voted for or against it, any US led resolution would unless it's in the UNSC where China/Russia can veto it. The fact that India amended the resolution to make it less intrusive would be more helpful to the SL govt. than it would be had India stayed out or voted against. It's called diplomacy, but simpletons don't get it !!!

I think India did a good job by supporting the UN resolution. SL govt needed some punches for the war crimes they committed. On the other hand we also have to see China doesn't get any more space. Good diplomacy by GoI.

This resolution won't create such a huge impact on us….

By the way, Recently Sri Lankan PM met Chinese Vice President in Beijing.

Chinese Vice President Xi Jinping will become next President of China.

Colombo already invited Chinese Vice President to visit Sri Lanka.

Chinese Vice President expected to visit Sri Lanka later this year….

However, India forced the US to amend its resolution to safeguard Sri Lanka from the international intrusions by adding a clause that said the UNHCR can provide advice and technical assistance "in consultation with, and with the concurrence of, the Government of Sri Lanka" to implement the measures called upon in the resolution.

nice move by india..

Can you explain what is nice in the move by India?

Sri Lanka rejects claim of India's ‘helping hand’ in Geneva

Sri Lanka yesterday strongly dismissed claims that India had intervened on behalf of the Sri Lankan government to thwart UN intervention by amending the US-sponsored United Nations Human Rights Council (UNHRC) resolution captioned ‘promoting reconciliation and accountability is Sri Lanka’, though it voted with the US-Norway grouping.

This type of apologetic stance. What is need to vote against Sri lanka and then protect from foreign intrusions.Good diplomatic but confusing move.....

Manmohan singh is a d-bag and i say this as a Punjabi from a Sikh family (but i am atheist) the Sinhalese killed so many innocent Tamils Sri Lankan army generals responsible for operations in Northern SL are no better than Ratko Mladic this is what happens in South Asia people kill other people because of different ethnicity/religion/caste etc and they get away with it but it only matters if their white for the UN to do anything about it and i'm not saying this to troll its true look compare the response times to Bosnia and Darfur and you will understand.

I am sorry but don't agree here...India has voted because of regional politics taking toll on the so called independent foreign policy...This vote will surely hurt us big time...and as far as toning it down is concerned then that's the best GOI could have done since DMK was holding their balls
