Pakistan is really a Banana republic ?

@PradoTLC

for an indian you actually under stood the problem with Pakistanis. It isnt Islam it was always lack of correct Islamic understanding

Thanks. I had a lot of misunderstanding about Islam, Muslims and Pakistanis. But almost two decades of friendship with many Pakistani friends across several forums- Chowk, PTH and now PDF has substantially altered my beliefs.

The sad truth is that on per capita terms, all the countries in South Asia are poorer than North Korea.

Pakistan is a curious case, because it was actually quite a bit richer than others until the corrupt PDM parties came in the 90s- the human capital accumulation is a lot higher. The distribution of wealth much more even than say India. But since the 90s, none of our heavy industries have really been working.

So yes the reported GDP numbers are quite believable actually. Not a huge hidden economy to speak of.

Was there ever a doubt? Man the unlawful stuff in Pakistan is way way beyond imagination. If u have power and money, u can literally do anything in Pakistan.

Nope, NoKo GDP per capita is $640, less than Sub-Saharan Africa.

Pakistan is a curious case.

On the surface it may look like a third world economy suffering from rampant corruption which has an average agricultural economy.

Coming to an informal economy, I believe it’s probably 2x the formal economy. The number of business transactions that are cash or transfers done through Hundi/Hawala is astounding. (Only dwarfed by India)

There is a bustling undocumented industry related to guns, drugs, gold, car, artifacts, crypto in Pakistan.

Only in Pakistan.....

I understand this as the Bird represents the Prime Minister. It is let out periodically to pick one sealed envelope not knowing what is in it, thinking it is making a decision.

Mil Estab: we are entering into the business of banana cultivation, preservation and selling, one business we haven't ventured into, should be the top priority.

Hulk Baghlol was made to go banana in the banana republic by IK.

So they are really telling the truth, Public is fool for them......

No consultation with Nawaz Sharif over army chief’s appointment: Khawaja Asif

Defence minister says the decision is solely PM Shehbaz Sharif's prerogative, accuses Imran Khan of making the appointment controversial.

Dawn.

@epebble

What if they generate 1000 KWH of power in a day but declare that they produced only 700 KWH and sell remaining 300 KWH under the table?

Unlikely, although nothing is impossible in Pakiland. Power has to be wheeled through transmission networks which have very detailed controlled systems in place and monitor power flowing in each and every HV line on real time basis. It would require collusion on an immense scale. Maybe @niaz sb can throw some light on this.

Unlike physical commodities, electricity from a power is not something that can easily be sold under the table.. To sell electricity one would need to have transmission line and a transformer to bring volatge down to 220.

Average electricity usage in the UK household is about 8 KWH per day, hence 300 KWH can only be stolen if there are 35 to 40 houses or a small factory located next door to the power plant and the consumers are supplied via underground distribution system. But this would easily be found out if these homes are not connected to the normal supply system and are illuminated at night with electricity.
There is indeed a lot of power theft in Pakistan, either through 'Kunda' or by bypassing the meter. In majority of cases with the connivance of the power company employees.

@niaz sb,

Thanks. As I suspected, you can steal power only at the distribution level. It is impossible stealing it from the generating station itself.

They would have been better of than every country in the subcontinent if not for sanctions.

..,
Great era of Chief Justice Bandyal Sahib:
Silence on the violation of human rights openly in the country,
Silence on the assassination attack on the former prime minister.
Shut up on stripping senators.
Silence on making videos of husband and wife in Supreme Court lodges,
And today, PTI MPs were not allowed to enter the Supreme Court to submit a petition. ..
