It has been in my mind recently and started thinking about how would the world look if Europeans never ventured outside of their continent.

What would have happened if the Americas, Australasia, Africa and Asia were never touched? Would civilization have advanced at the same pace? Would the borders be different? Would these regions still be rural tribes or industrialized by themselves?

Europe benefited a lot from colonization if there wasn't colonization. Europe would have most likely looked like what India does today.

Since we are postulating we must assume the watershed moment in western history never happened and that is discovery or more importantly colonization of America. Europe in the 15th century was over populated, dirty and lagging behind the rest of the civilized world in knowledge and science. The peasantry was highly taxed and religious intolerance ripe. Even if we add trading posts established in many parts of the world that still doesn't give the amount of prosperity that came from America in the form of Silver, gold and skin trade. Europe would not have been able to fund it's wars nor all too eager foot soldiers. The mobilization of population that occurred in 17th and 18th centuries would have been impossible leaving a present day western Europe overly populated unable to feed itself and living in low to middle income state with the feudals living a life of luxury and a Catholic and protestant church in constant struggle. In fact much of Eastern Europe would probably be under Ottoman rule with Russia an equally strong empire. That will also mean that the silk road routes would still be functional today and a lots of prosperity in central Asia and China in general. Some may bring in the industrial revolution but that came after the financial revolution and debt financing which again owed it's existence to the silver coming from new world. The trading companies ventured on investors and borrowed money if the return on that investment is not greater than the debt will itself eat out further ventures.
