'2014 The Year of Changing the Egyptian military doctrine'

2014 was the real change in the Egyptian doctrine of fighting where Egypt began to shift from the doctrine of defense to attack and this through the development plan that will continue to 2020 and include those developments to update all branches of the armed forces..

The beginning was with Russia:

Egypt has procured the long-range S-300 air defense system. With this system, Egypt has now
a long-range air defense arm. The entire system has been delivered comprising three batteries.

Egypt also signed a contract for the Russian Revolutionary Fighter MiG-35 which is a multi-role interceptor fighter in the first place and with the entry of that fighter in service it will introduce new tactics that increase the efficiency and capability of the armed forces..

Egypt was also given a Molina heavy missile-launcher who carries the famous musket missiles..

Egypt also signed a contract for the Russian Alligator attack helicopters;
The most powerful attack helicopter in the history of Russia Kamov 52 and which is the second best helicopter in the world after the Apache, which is also owned by Egypt with 43 helicopters..Russia was also contracted to provide Egypt with the Kamov 52 Katran Marine Helicopter to work on naval ships..

A deal for the T-90 tanks was also signed with the possibility of joint manufacturing..
These are some of the deals announced with the Russian side. A lot has not been announced pursuant to the secrecy between the two countries..

And from Russia to France, where the biggest deal in the history of the two countries was signed.

Egypt has contracted the French fighter Rafale, which gave Egypt a long range of 3,700 km + for its airforce and a large load of 9.5 tons. Rafale is a highly advanced technology that makes it perform its tasks perfectly and competes with the fifth-generation fighters in terms of technology..

Second, the deal of the two Mistral helicopters carriers. Which made Egypt the first country in Africa and the Arab and Islamic worlds to owns helicopters carriers, which will give a long arm to the Egyptian Navy thanks to the sophisticated possibilities of the carriers.
Each of which accommodates 16 heavy-duty Kamov 52 helicopters, as well as tanks and armored vehicles, and a 69-bed hospital and operating rooms, as well as headquarters to command military operations from within the carrier.

Third, the French Fremm Frigate that specializes in combating submarines and surface ships and is one of the strongest frigates in the world because of its armament and stealth features..

Fourth, the French-made Corvette Gowind-2500
Egypt has signed for four pieces with the transfer of manufacturing technology to the Alexandria Shipyard; one will be manufactured in France and the remaining three in the Alexandria marine arsenal.
There is also negotiation of the contract for the magnificent French helicopter NH-90 with its sea and land versions..

From France to Germany

Egypt has contracted 4 German Type 209 assault submarines which is considered one of the best diesel submarines in the world because of its almost non-existent acoustic footprint, and armaments giving Egypt the ability to compete with its opponents.
There is a possibility of contracting two higher-class submarines.(Type 214)..

As for China, the deals remain secret..
But there are sources who have reported that Egypt has contracted the Yuan submarines
And the Chinese rocket launchers WS-2 with range up to 400 km, and a lot of surprises that will appear soon..

In addition to the expected upgrades of most of the equipments of the army to the highest standards..
For example the development of the F16 fighter fleet to the Viper standard and European standard..
Upgrade of the Abrams tank fleet to the M1A2 top standard..
The Apache helicopters upgrade to the top standard with the addition of a Longbow radar..
The upgrade of some Navy ships such as Perry class frigates..
And the possibility of contracting additional Ambassador missile launchers.
This is in addition to the Egyptian missile program, which is considered the long arm of the Arab Republic of Egypt..In cooperation with North Korea, China, Russia and Pakistan..

These are some of the crusts that appear on the surface and what is hidden is greater..

IMHO
The change from a defence to an attack doctrine in the case of Egypt should be bigger and greater: first it should bring the introduction of a sea and air cruise missile, then Alexander tactical missile, some Russian navy destroyers, air-refuling Aircrafts, S-400 air defense system, activity in a very strong ballistic program even if it is short range, and Long-range coastal defense, among other systems..

So, Yes, Egypt has made an excellent evolution, but no change of doctrine has occurred yet, Egypt is still missing and lacks many things..

I hope Egyptian army will be ready for war when Ethiopian dam negotiations fail . Sudanese/Ethiopian plan to cut egypt's water supply will have a disastrous effect on its internal stability.

It will never come to that.. it is a UN and an international issue.. no one can cut water to someone else.. the negotiations are still going on for technicalities, not for the construction of the Dam itself..Egypt is already assured of getting its share of water..

They still in the Soviet doctrine era...It will take another century for Egypt military to catch up with what it's done in the Western country armies.

Oh i forgot the Nile civilisation. Its become quite irrelevant like the Euphrates civilisation.

Good read

Thanks for the tag, bro. The NH-90 is sweet for sure. I guess they wanted to order enough to equip the 4 FREMMs and 4 Gowinds but it looks like they might be getting more than 8.

If they do move forward with more subs, they should stick with the Type 214 because of already having the Type 209. This is that double edged sword of diversification again!

For example the development of the F16 fighter fleet to the Viper standard and European standard..
Upgrade of the Abrams tank fleet to the M1A2 top standard..
The Apache helicopters upgrade to the top standard with the addition of a Longbow radar..

Considering the number of tanks Egypt has, it might be a tough thing to get the M1A2 upgrade. I do think it is time to allow the Longbow radar.

This is in addition to the Egyptian missile program, which is considered the long arm of the Arab Republic of Egypt..In cooperation with North Korea, China, Russia and Pakistan..

North Korea? Sisi might ruin his friendship with Trump if he goes that route lol.
Despite having a formidable SAM system with the TOR M1's & M2's and S-300VM, they need A LOT more than 3 batteries of the latter. With all the bases they're building and the new plant and all sorts of other things, they're going to need a much bigger inventory to protect all this stuff.

The problem Ethiopia wants to fill the dam with 75 billion cubic water in one year only which would cause egypt to lose 15 billion cubic meters of water each year . The other problem would be if Ethiopia plans to build more dams after the grand dam further cutting water supply to Egypt .

Without keeping pressure on MB government in Sudan then expect hell will be unleashed on Egypt next few years and unfortunately Qatar and Turkey are supporting this scheme against Egypt.

It would take them another 1000 years to catch up with the mighty Algerian army .

Remember the discussion on the "other" thread regarding the navies? Here's a look at the naval powers in the Eastern Mediterranean. :-)

First time you got it right!:buba_phone:

Egyptian navy, the majority of her ships are old and need to be replaced..Don't let that map fools you..When I said five years, in that time she would have new ship that are in order now, fully operational. Now she doesn't have a navy for the size of her waters. Israel has about 100 miles of seashore and has around 70 ships, in a top shape fully operational, without the 5 nuclear capable subs.
Concerning Algeria, by the end the 2020, the Algerian navy will remind us the hay days of Algerines that controlled the Med sea and the eastern Atlantic all the way to la Manche.
For now, apart Turkey, The only navies that can bite is the one of Algeria and Israel ...

You know brother what's the pro of diversification? It is that your enemy might know the ins and outs of some of your weapons (the US and German ones in this instance).. but they won't be able to know all the secrets of the other systems..

We never know with Trump! Egypt has a lot of old M-60s..

Egypt has been cooperating with China, North Korea, Argentina, Iraq and Pakistan on missile technology for decades.. so nothing new that can ruin US-Egypt friendship.. it is just a scientific endeavor..

That's why I think it's a double-edged sword. The diversification slows you down a bit and complicates things a bit, but there are benefits like you mentioned. This is the price Egypt has to pay for not really having a fully dedicated ally, unlike others. So it needs to adjust accordingly.

Egypt has been cooperating with China, North Korea, Argentina, Iraq and Pakistan on missile technology for decades.. so nothing new that can ruin US-Egypt friendship.. it is just a scientific endeavor..

I realize that, except the current US administration has openly supported Sisi without qualms unlike Obama but this same admin is unlike any of the previous admins as far as its stance towards NK. That's what I was eluding to and in particular to a ballistic missile cooperation with NK that would probably not be considered a scientific endeavor to be perfectly honest with you. China is a bit tricky, TBH. They have their hands in a lot of kitchens. Pakistan sounds like the best option, although there are some kinks in that relationship as well.
