US advised Pakistan not to fight the USSR in 1979 but Pakistan wanted revenge for the 1971 war

Let me set one thing straight the US didn't advise anything to Pakistan.
There is also similarity between USSR & US, they didn't control anything besides a few cities the countryside was with Mujahadeen control, history basically repeated itself with both these clowns.

It was Pakistan's fight. We knew what was coming & we prepared years beforehand. US or no US, we had to fight it. Americans just did not have a strategy in place even though they knew what was coming - and this is the basis of rumors presented as facts in the first post.

India rightly viewed Pakistan as a buffer state. This is what the British had in mind too when they agreed to partition British India. It was clear that one day Afghanistan would fall to the Soviets. When Soviets hardened their grip in the Central Asian states in 1920s, it was all too obvious that Afghanistan was going to be their next target. Pakistan was to be the bulwark against Communism. They plan & Allah plans, and Allah's plan is the best.

I could feel the pain of Pakistani leftists during the 80s. They could not get any booze & they had no respite. After Soviet invasion of Afghanistan, the nation's mood turned towards resistance to the Soviets & the Pakistani Socialists / Communists could do nothing about it. Zia-ul-Haq's regime suppressed them & they are bitter till today. If they had it their way, Pakistan would have become a Soviet satellite for a short while before being erased out of existence.

Again, it was Pakistan's fight & we fought it well. We paid the price too, but it was necessary.

Exactly.

We need quality control on this forum, the amount of feel-good threads and delusional posts by some, including Pakistanis, is crazy.

Some of them practically just write things devoid of any logic or reality, worse than Indians.

The maker of this thread or me?

Which part are you struggling to accept that Pakistan decided to confront the Soviet war machine in the first place and prevent it from driving through Pakistan to the Arabian Sea, or that Pakistan's nuclear detterent along with the backing of American and Chinese nuclear detterent also prevented any full scale invasion of Pakistan?

Like I said, Pakistan carried out its first "Cold Test" of a nuclear device all the way back on 11 March 1983. Therefore;
  1. Pakistan became a de-facto nuclear power,
  2. Wasn't seen as some modern day Ukraine which could be easily invaded without any resistance and,
  3. Pakistan-USSR started talking directly as early as 1983 in regards to Soviet withdrawal from Afghanistan. Just 4 years after they had entered Afghanistan and over the next few years, they were fully driven out with their tail between their legs (apparently their economy was also on its last legs).

Dude, I cannot stop you living in your fantasies.

Out of this thread as I have made my point.

Pakistani lefties and Islam hating secular degenerates can continue to question Maj. Amir's credibility to their heart's desires, but an authority no less than the former head of Paksitan's strategic forces, who played a pivotal role in defining and implementing Pakistan's nuclear strategy as well as safeguard mechanism, Gen. Ehsan Ul Haq also mentioned in his recent interview that after massively supporting India during '71, USSR continued to support the leftist Baloch insurgent throughout the 70's. Access to warm waters of the Arabian gulf was always a goal in Soviet/Russian strategic calculus, which they hoped to achieve through Afg and Balochistan.

Secondly, when Soviet invaded Afghanistan, their Motor Rifle Divisions made it to Pakistan border without taking a break and came eyeball to eyeball with Pakistani defenders. The threat was existential.

Americans were reluctant to help Pakistan through the first few years with their main focus being on Contras, in fact US aid to Contras dwarfed that which was given to Mujahideen during the early 80's. It was only after a couple of low level CIA officials and one Congressman from Texas Wilson, who took it upon themselves as a crusade against the Soviets that the tide started to turn by mid eighties.

In Reality:

US advised Pakistan not to fight the USSR in 1979 but...secretly was banking on it.

Seriously, this is the nation that has made so many gung ho movies on the Vietnam War, that their retard youth actually believe that they won the War.

But, you gotta hand it to 'em. They've managed to use their Media & Film Industry to fool everyone. Indians can't even get that right.

Circus of politics, first it was claimed that USA took the revenge of own humiliation in Vietnam conflict.
Now all based on Pakistani decision, USA was so loyal to Pakistan and provided all fundings and training. USA just used Pakistan for its own vested interest, Zia used that opportunity to prolong his claws on power till disposed of like toilet paper after USA cleaned herself.
Main things that we have to remember are:
  • December 1979: Soviet Union invaded Afghanistan.
  • February 1980: US offered $400 million financial support to Pakistan which was rejected.
  • March 1980: Pakistani military decided to engage the Soviet Union.
  • October 1980: US increases military aid to the Mujahideen covertly.
  • November 1980: US holds General Elections.
  • January 1981: Ronald Reagan sworn in.
  • September 1981: Pakistan agrees to a $3.2 billion aid package.

Fully agreed with the dates and timelines which are mentioned by you.
The actual issues are not the mentioned timelines.
Every conflict arises when the USA tries to sit on the doorsteps of others or installs some puppets in the neighborhood. Last time they have done the same with USSR by disturbing the balance in Kabul for their own vested interests.
Now they are again on same path by disturbing the balance in the South China Sea and in Ukraine, Definitely not on someone's aspiration/will but their own vested interests. The same they did with Pakistan.
