Everyone must listen to what this chap is saying. Sugar should have fatwa , it is bad as alcohol.

Sugar is big issue creates many health conditions. When you have a flu or bacterial infection having it helps both multiply. Same with cancer cells they feed off it.

And pray tell us what do the brain and the heart muscle use for the energy they need? :D

There is a difference between glucose which is consumed naturally from fruits and refined sugar cain. I'm not talking about totally cutting it either but limiting it. Also for energy carbs convert to sugar.

Limiting it makes sense. Overdoing any particular food group is what generally causes issues. And a lack of exercise.

Consume brown sugar it's slightly costly but is healthy,

You can't ban everything.
Everything in excess affects the body negatively.
A perfectly healthy guy in his 40s or 50s can get a heart attack nowadays.

Processed sugar in the form we have today is not healthy for us, especially in the quantities we consume it in. So many processed foods have sugar in them and they're not even sweet.

The sugars you are referring to are created in our body by breaking down carbohydrates and even proteins. That process of generating them controls the rate they are broken down at and consumed at.

The easily accessible processed sugars hit our body very quickly and are accessed very easily to generate energy. As the body doesn't use enough of it - it gets stored as fats. They also spike our insulin levels and regular consumption leads to insulin resistance and type 2 diabetes.

I use stevia instead of sugar which is 50 times sweeter than sugar. You have to get used to its taste.

Stevia (/ˈstiːviə, ˈstɛviə/)[1][2] is a natural sweetener and sugar substitute derived from the leaves of the plant species Stevia rebaudiana, native to Paraguay and Brazil.
The active compounds are steviol glycosides (mainly stevioside and rebaudioside),[4]: 54  which have about 50 to 300 times the sweetness of sugar,[5] are heat-stable, pH-stable, and not fermentable.[6] The human body does not metabolize the glycosides in stevia, so it contains zero calories as a non-nutritive sweetener. Stevia's taste has a slower onset and longer duration than that of sugar, and at high concentrations some of its extracts may have an aftertaste described as licorice-like or bitter.

As I said, limiting sugar intake makes sense. Eliminating it totally does not.
