Strong data protection law’ on the cards to protect privacy
Web Desk On Jan 10, 2021 Last updated Jan 10, 2021

ISLAMABAD: Minister for Science and Technology Fawad Chaudhry said on Sunday the government is mulling over introducing “a strong data protection law to protect citizens’ privacy.”

Reacting to the new WhatsApp Privacy Policy that allows data sharing of consumers, he tweeted that instead of adopting a unilateral approach, such policy changes should have been made after wider consultation.

WhatsApp laid out fresh terms on Wednesday, asking users to agree to let owner Facebook and its subsidiaries collect user data, including their phone number and location.

Some privacy activists questioned the “accept our data grab or get out” move on Twitter, and suggested users to switch to apps like Signal and Telegram.

Please ban whatsapp . Govt should endorse its own social media platforms ..Build your own community .Govt. can provide so many services via such platforms.. and also make a good earning that outsiders take away..

BC first protect govt websites yesterday while there was a power blackout indians were in power divisions portal and have put out pictures of people contacting power division 😑 and other stuff..

Privacy protected from govt institutions too?

It's all such a farce. Whosoever is online, invites to be read like an open book.

Hilarious. First teach the 99% jaahil nation what data privacy is. Once you are done with it. Beg the beauracracy and ministries and law enforcement to make sure the data remains private. Oh and there is an opportunity for selling data using rishwat
