Russia's arms exporter on Tuesday, August 25, 2015, signed a contract to supply of five Tor-M2K air defense systems to Belarus in 2016. The Tor M2 is a surface-to-air defense missile (SAM) system manufactured by Almaz-Antey's which is able to dstroy air targets to a maximum range of 12 km.

"At the MAKS-2015 international aviation and space show, Rosoboronexport signed a contract with the Belarusian Defense Ministry to supply five military vehicles from among the Tor-M2K air defense systems," the company said. "Supplies are scheduled for 2016," it said.
The special exporter company head, Anatoly Isaykin, said "the supply of these state-of-the-art systems will considerably boost possibilities of the air defense system of the Republic of Belarus.
The Tor-M2 is an upgraded version of the Tor-M1 short-range air defense missile system. The TOR-M2/M2E is designed by the Russian Defense Company Almaz-Antey.
The TOR-M2 / M2E is designed to destroy aircraft, helicopters, aerodynamic UAVs, guided missiles and other components of high precision weapons flying at medium, low and extremely low altitudes in adverse air and jamming environment.
The Tor-M2 can simultaneously engage up to 48 processed targets and ten tracked targets. It has the capability to exchange radar data with another vehicle. The system can destroy moving enemy targets within the range of 12km and at altitudes from 10m to 1,000m.
Tor-M2K is another variant mounted on a wheeled truck chassis.
