Because they are expensive, and less fuel efficient then Bell 412, and on the other hand it depends on US whether they offer us, there cud be many reasons

^^in total 25 new Bell 412 are being purchased thru the CISF funds. 2 have been delivered, 10 as mentioned above by the end of june 2011, and the balance by end 2012.

The title is misleading. For a moment, I was taken in too.

Pakistan is not paying any money for the choppers!

The cost is a component of the FMF that US is providing to Pakistan. So a better title would be :

Pak to request US to give 10 Bell 412 Helicopters as part of the Military Aid.

A correct example is Dawn's earlier report w.r.t another US FMF grant for Cobras.

BLACK HAWK DOWN effect..?;)

on a serious note, they are more expensive and depends on US what it offers..BTW why Pakistan didnot go for Chinese helis..i am sure they must have something to offer..could have got 20 in the same budget..

Chinese helis dont come as free as the U.S. ones. ;) Different types of helicopters in service also complicates things. :)
