Nuclear weapons with India?

The question is how many nuclear weapons India currently have????

Indian Missiles

1.) Prithvi I, Range - 150 kms
2.) Prithvi II, Range - 350 kms
3.) Agni-I, Range - 700 kms
4.) Agni-II, Range - 2,000-3,000 kms
5.) Agni-III, Range - 3500 km - 5500 kms

Even if one calculate 10 missile of each class with nuclear warhead India must have at least 50 Nuclear tipped missiles.

Indian Navy

- 3 Arihant class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines are to be operational by 2015.

Arihant will have 12 X Sagarika Missiles.

(nuclear-capable submarine-launched ballistic missile with a range of 700 kilometres.)

Arihant will also have 4 X Agni III SLBM (Submarine-launched ballistic missile).

This means 12 Sagarika SLBM + 4 Agni III SLBM = 16 SLBM in a Arihant.

3 Arihant class nuclear-powered ballistic missile submarines are under costrction (Out of which 1 is already out)

So, we will have 3 Arihant class SSBN X 16 SLBM = 48 Nuclear tipped submarine-launched ballistic missile.

The Strategic Forces Command (SFC)

Now, The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) want to acquire 40 fighter planes capable of delivering nuclear weapons.

If we calculate 1 nuclear weapon per Aircraft we will have 40 nuclear weapons.

Indian Air Force Aircrafts

Obviously, IAF must be having at least same number of Fighter Aircrafts with Nuclear weapons as The Strategic Forces Command (SFC) is demanding.

So, add another 40 Nuclear weapons.

-------------------------------------------------------------
IAF (Aircrafts) = 40 Nuclear weapons.
SFC (Aircrafts) = 40 Nuclear weapons.
Missiles with SFC = 50 Nuclear weapons.
Indian Navy = 48 Nuclear tipped submarine-launched ballistic missiles.

Grand Total = by 2015, India must have 178 Nuclear weapons at least.:cheers:

Above estimate is on a conservative note, i think.

And that's not all as India is also developing Nirbhay Cruise Missile + Shaurya missile + Agni-V these all are nuclear tipped missiles.

^ sorry not impressed on your data'S buddy. No one can guess actual number of nukes. It may be 1000 or just 10:P

Good try:)

This topic is a pandora's box, better not to play the guessing game.

Too simple logic used for such a complex calculation. nah..not impressed..sorry..

who know's there may be 1000 nukes....u can't predict it cause 1998 SHakti test could not be unearthed by any intelligence...got the point

Maintaining Nukes is a night-mare and super expensive. So, it would be a stupid idea to have more Nukes ... more nukes NOT EQUAL to more security.

For an estimate, the US donated $200million to Pakistani floods compare that with $100million they gave for "securing" the nuclear infrastructure.

Nukes are "Divas", I sense a lot of pride about them in this forum. There is nothing but Pain in it.

This is a sad topic, this thread is going to closed. Tired of this nuke numbers bull$hit..
