North Korean engineerity at work -- Shenyang J-5 with a pair of SRAAM

. .
north koreans are ingenious, devising weapons when under atrocious intimidation by the western bloc.

.
And how do we know they are not just 'mounted' but rather can work as well?

. . . . .
Are you sure they actually 'fire' them..and not just drop them?

putting what I'm asumming is either a 1st or 2nd generation heat seeking missile on a 1950's era jet is ingenious?? it looks desperate and would be non-effective.

the Mig-17 would be detected 200+KM away by ground radar,AWAKS or by a F-15, and the said missile isn't all aspect so it needs to be directly behind a jet like the F-15 and the F-15 only needs to move left or right to be out of it's primitive seekers sight, lmao.

NK are also ingenious in propaganda, brainwashing, torture, and re-education... but hey let's not do anything about that...that would just be atrocious on our part.

A known Soviet MiG -17 armed with Air to Air missiles is a variant called MiG-17PM, produced in only a limited number.
MiG-17AS Multirole conversion, fitted to carry unguided rockets and the K-13 (NATO: AA-2 Atoll) air-to-air missile.
MiG-17PM/PFU ("Fresco E") Fighter version equipped with radar and K-5 (NATO: AA-1 "Alkali") air-to-air missiles ("aircraft SP-9").

PL-2 and its derivatives are members of a series of Chinese air to air missiles (AAM) originated from the former-Soviet Vuympel K-13 AAM

Mig-15, an even older aircraft, however, looking at these photos, the North Koreans modified it as a light bomber with 4 hard points for bombs connected to the fuselage, which had never been seen on other Mig-15s.

the similarity with the change made in Egypt for Mig-17 , leads me to think of a strong military technical collaboration in the past of the two nations, and not just the simple purchase of weapons.

Probably the sending to Egypt of Mig-17 instructors pilots of DPRK, (also present during the 4th Israeli Arab war -Yom Kippur)

may have facilitated the exchange of information on the changes to be made on the aircraft

pictorial processing of the Mig-15 fuselage number 806 in the "new" configuration

Mig-15_travetti-2.jpg

I had forgotten:
other photos of Mig-15 or 17 (the photo shows only partially the planes, making it difficult to recognize the model) with hard points for bombs connected to the fuselage, it makes me think that North Koreans have implemented this additional capacity on the majority of this old model of aircraft
