North Korea has unveiled new mobile short-range ballistic missile system for the first time during low-key military parade, a day ahead of the opening of the Winter Olympics in South Korea.

On 8 February, North Korea’s military unveiled its previously unseen mobile short-range ballistic missile system when six launchers vehicles participated in the parade in Pyongyang.

The new mobile short-range ballistic missile system looks similar to the Russian Iskander ballistic missile system but is smaller in size. As well as the Iscander, the new North Korea’s ballistic missile system equipped with two solid-propellant single-stage guided missiles.

Each missile in the launch carrier vehicle can be independently targeted. The missile system based on the new 8×8 high-mobility vehicle.

At this time we have no precise information about the new missile, but some source reported that its estimated range is beyond 400 km.

South Korean news agency Yonhap reported that as many as 50,000 people gathered in Kim Il Sung square to watch the event, which included around 13,000 soldiers. The parade was held around the same time as a welcoming ceremony for hundreds of North Koreans who are in South Korea for the 2018 Winter Olympics.
