Signing of MoU between Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) &Aravali Power Company Pvt. Ltd (APCPL),Jhajjar

Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India(ALIMCO), under Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment and Aravali Power Company Pvt Ltd (APCPL),Jhajjar signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU)yesterday at Jhajjar, Haryanafor Rs. 2 Crores for Distribution of Aids and Assistive Devices to Persons with Disabilities at CharkhiDadri District of Haryana under the CSR initiative of APCPL in the presence of Shri D.R. Sarin, CMD, ALIMCO and ShriN.N.Mishra, CEO, APCPL.

As per the MoU signed between ALIMCO and APCPL, Distribution camps will be organized at CharkhiDadri District for an estimated cost of Rs 2 Crores.In the Distribution Camps artificial limbs, aids & appliances such as Motorized Tricycles Tricycle, Wheel Chairs, BTE Hearing Aids, Crutch Axilla Adjustable, Braille Cane, MSIED Kit, Braille Kit, Smart Cane, Smart Phones etc. to Persons with Disabilities will be distributed.

ALIMCO is a “Not ForProfit” Central Public Sector Undertaking working under the administrative control of Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India.For past 40 years, ALIMCO has been relentlessly manufacturing various types of aids and appliances on mass scale to meet the requirements of PwDs including orthopedically, visual and hearing impaired etc. It has been serving on an average around two lakhs of disabled population every year and has supplied 42 lakhs of aids & appliances (approx.).

Aravali Power Company Pvt Ltd (APCPL)is a Joint venture company with 50% share of NTPC Ltd, 25% of Haryana Power Generation Company Ltd (HPGCL, Haryana State company), and 25% of Indraprastha Power Generation Company Ltd (IPGCL, A DelhiState company). It has already distributed Aids and Appliances to Divyangjan last year at Jhajjar&Rewari Districts (Haryana) valuing Rs. 3 Crores in association with ALIMCO and now they have signed MoU for nearer District CharkhiDadri.

Victorious Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team Meets Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot

The victorious ‘Indian Wheelchair Cricket Team’ met Union Minister for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Thaawarchand Gehlot in his office here today. The Indian Wheelchair Cricket team beat Bangladesh in three-matches Wheelchair Cricket Series 2018 by 2-0 held at University of Dhaka stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh. Shri Gehlot tweeted, “The Indian Wheelchair Cricket Warriors outshine Bangladesh in the 2nd International T-20 Wheelchair Cricket Match Series at Dhaka. My best wishes to team India and the organizers Wheelchair Cricket India Association on this wonderful victory.”

Earlier, the team was felicitated by Minister of State for Social Justice and Empowerment Shri Krishan Pal Gurjar at New Delhi airport who presented them flowers and shawls. Welcoming the Indian Wheelchair Cricket team, Shri Gurjar said that the ssssGovernment is committed to the empowerment of Persons with Disabilities.

The Indian Wheelchair Cricket team beat Bangladesh by 10 runs in the final match against Bangladesh at University of Dhaka Stadium, Dhaka, Bangladesh on Monday. India set a target of 153 runs for Bangladesh in a limited overs format. However, the host team could score only 143 runs in 15 overs. Rohit Manhotra bagged the Man of the Match and Man of the Series titles. The trophy was presented to skipper Somjeet Singh in a glittering ceremony.

The tournament was first of its kind and it not only inculcated a positive attitude among Persons with Disabilities but also provided a platform to show case their talent and physical abilities.

The names of Indian Wheelchair Cricket are: Mr. Somjeet Singh (Captain), Mr. Abhai Pratap Singh (Vice Captain), Mr. Veer Singh Sandhu, Mr. Rohit Annotra, Mr. Surendra Kasare, Mr. Sukhwant Singh, Mr. Ramesh Kumar, Mr. Jeyan Alt, Mr. Anmol Vasistha, Mr. Vikky Kumar (Wicket Keeper), Mr. Gaurav Yadav, Mr. Sunil Rao, Mr. Bhima Lakhaman Khunti and Mr. Jagroop Singh.

The Joint Secretary, DEPwD, Dr. Prabodh Seth; Director, DEPwD, Shri Vikash Prasad and General Secretary of Indian Wheelchair Cricket team Shri Pradeep Raj were also present at the felicitating ceremony held at the New Delhi Airport.

MoU signed between DEPwD and ALIMCO for the Financial year 2018-19

Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities (DEPwD-Divyangjan Shashaktikaran Vibhag), Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) with Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO) for the Financial Year 2018-19 yesterday. It covers major developments to be achieved in this year for the Empowerment of Divyangjan of the country. The MoU was signed by Smt Shakuntala D. Gamlin, Secretary DEPwD & Shri D.R.Sarin, CMD ALIMCO. On this occasion, Dr. Prabodh Seth, Joint Secretary, DEPwD & Smt Dolly Chakraborty, Joint Secretary, DEPwD were also present.

Department for Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities is primarily mandated with the task of empowerment of Persons with Disabilities and act as a Nodal Agency for matters pertaining to Persons with Disabilities, including ensuring effecting closer coordination among different stakeholders: related Central Ministries, State/UT Governments, NGOs etc. in disability sector. The Vision of the Department is to build an all-inclusive society, in which equal opportunities are provided for the growth and development of Persons with Disabilities so that they can lead productive, safe and dignified life.

Assistive Aids and Appliances distributed to Senior Citizens


A Distribution camp for free of cost distribution of Aids and Assistive Living devices for Senior Citizen under BPL category, was organized at S. K Mohit Hall, Jhilmil Industrial Aera in East Delhi toady by Artificial Limbs Manufacturing Corporation of India (ALIMCO), a PSU working .

In the camp 2598 number of daily living assisted living devices of different categories regarding age related infirmities valuing approx. Rs. 50.00 Lakhs were distributed among 910 pre identified Sr. Citizen Beneficiaries of East Delhi District.

Identified beneficiaries were registered during the assessment camp conducted by ALIMCO at various locations of East Delhi district in the month of February 2018.

Assistive Living Devices distributed to Sr. Citizens under RVY are:-



14–Wheelchairs Tetra/Tripod-39

862- BTE Hearing Aids Crutches- 16

660- Walking Sticks Dentures- 243

746- Spectacles



58 distribution camps have been conducted so far all over country under RVY in which 60601 Number of beneficiaries have been served and 138653 Number of appliances have been distributed valuing Rs.2,935.75 Lakhs.
