MOSCOW, October 12. /TASS/. Russian aviation authorities intend to certify the MC-21 passenger jet in December of this year, Deputy Transport Minister Igor Chalik said on Tuesday.
"Our scheduled completion of MC-21 certification is in December 2021 and I have actually just received a confirmation from the Federal Air Transport Agency that we are on track so far. The MC-21 must be certified in December of this year," the official said.
The MC-21 is the medium-range passenger jet under development. The airplane is developed with engines of two types: domestic PD -14 and Pratt & Whitney (PW140). It is planned that the aircraft with US engines will be initially available for ordering. This aircraft version already undergoes flight tests and first airplanes are to be supplied to airlines in 2022. The version with Russian engines made the maiden flight last December.

This is a great example of Russia getting closer to the West. Many here point out that the Russians are building a new block with the Chinese. That's inaccurate. Russia at this time is only interested in economic growth. They are connecting with Europe with direct oil and gas pipelines, selling weapons across the globe and using American parts / engines in their products. Recently, they even offered the US bases too. If they were being an enemy, there was no reason to use PW engines in their products. The goal is to target the biggest airline industry of the US and to make profits from US / Canada also. Russia no longer sees itself in the cold war era enemy of the US.

It's because of western (primarly US sanctions) Irkut MC-21 is already late. US sanctioned deliveries of composites so Russia had to develope it's own. IMO US didn't sanctioned deliveries of jet engines to Russia only because Russia is close to having it's own alternatives.

Russia is connected with rest of Europe with pipelines since decades. They are building Nord Stream 2 because US founded regime in Kiev have history of stealing natural gas.

Russia no longer sees itself in the cold war era enemy of the US.

I don't think so. For months diplomatic relations between Russia and US were basicaly frozen. Plus few days ago US ship tried to violate Russian maritime border.

Recently, they even offered the US bases too.
As far as I know this information was disproven.
And we all remember about the end of the Cold War.
Americans in 1989-1991: "We and our Soviet partners agreed to end the Cold War for mutual benefits".
Americans after 1993: "Shut up, losers, you lost the Cold War! You have no rights, no place and no word!"
You think we will ever forgive you this?

Nope, this was actually the reality. The Russians didn't offer bases so the Americans can call them allies going forward. It was to fight against terrorism and related ops, and Russia herself is involved with similar ops around their homeland.

Russia and Europe had a hot and cold relationship for decades. We know that. NATO exists because of it and the heavy US force deployment around Europe is because of it. The second pipeline has a lot of significance. The German Chancellor is very much involved with the project and it has a lot of goodwill from both sides.

Lastly, the ship to ship counter took place a few days ago. It has nothing to do with the situation a few months ago. The encounter seemed a bit tense primarily due to Japanese PM's remarks on claims Japan makes on Islands. Russia, since, has been showing "military strength". A way to remind Japan and the US it's a powerful nation. Global politics.

After USA retreat from Afghanistan there were some info that Russia offer Americans its bases in Central Asia. A few days later it was called fake by Lavrov or Peskov I do not remember. May be you are talking about some cooperation in counter-terrorist field taking place between two countries - it is true.

Warsaw Pact no longer exist so why NATO still exist ? NATO not only exist but, contrary to promises made to Russia it expanded. It proves that US regime is hostile to Russia.

Fact is that there were no US ambasador to Russia for months. And fact is US do not recognize Russia's borders. So your claim that there is no Cold War between Russia and US is absurd.

Someone from Poland is trying to teach me US-Russian relations lol. I love it. The US and Russia are not at war and nor are there any real tensions. In fact, Russia, a few years ago had started strategic bomber patrols coming close to Alaska and UK and were intercepted a few times. Even those have stopped to cool off tensions.

He is right. Russia considers USA as an enemy. Americans has lost their chance to make Russia their friend in 90's and 2000's during our worst times since beginning of 17 ct., since Time of Troubles. But you have been treated us as an empty place. We do not need you anymore. Our allies are all in the East - China, Iran, India. Probably, Turkey and Pakistan will join. May be some European countries - but not America.

LOL... Nice story.

Yes, Russia join US by refuse to continue with NASA space station and join China lunar station. Keep your delusion. MC-21 is a history project born a decade ago when US is still sane. Now US is insane to Russia and China.

Soon that American fanboy will claim he knows US / Russia r/s more than Russian. He speaks for Putin and speaks Russian better than you. Know Russian history more than any Russian. He will even claim Russian dictionary is written by him.

See how delusion these fools has reached.

We Chinese has encountered delusion Indian and American who claim they know Chinese history better than Chinese.

Russia made a mistake by trusting US, but US made a mistake by abusing Russia's trust. Now US is paying the price for abusing Russia's trust in 1990s. Don't let US fool you again. The world needs strong Russia. You guys defeated fascism and you helped destroy colonial empires like English colonial empire. Now you are major opposition to US tyrany and you support multipolar world (freedom).
