High speed bullet train arrived in Daliang Mountain, and the local government remodelled the old " slow trains" into school students commuter trains running through several ethnic Yi mountain villages to send the village children to the schools and take them back home. The remodeled trains enable the students to preview , review their study and do their homework on the train.

Daliangshan mountain trains, connecting many ethnic Yi villages in the mountains , fare rate is 2 Yuan, ( $0.27) , whole journey is 353 kilometers, speed 40km/hour, making one village stop every 12 minutes.
villagers can trade their farm goods on the trade. some people call the train a moving market.

That's how I felt in UK's National rail trains.

Other than the tube, which is very nice, my only surface train journey in U.K. was to Windsor. It was nice though quite slow. It had the feel of an early 20th century ride.

Yeh, You might want to try them in peak hours where you are packed like sheep and people around you smell like sheep too.
