Islamist is a term made up by Islamophobes to attack Islam.
You said your self it’s an Islamic party. So why throw the term Islamist in there?
The term Islamist was recently created by enemies of Islam to justify their bogus wars against Muslims in the name of “war on terror”.

Islamist
noun [ C ]
RELIGION, POLITICS

UK /ˈɪz.lə.mɪst/ US /ˈɪz.lə.mɪst/

a person who believes strongly in Islam, especially one who believes that Islam should influence political systems.

Islamic = Muslim, Religious
Islamist = Muslim, Political
Politics and governance is embedded in Islam.
You don’t need to be an “Islamist” to be a person who thinks Islam should influence laws. You just have to be a Muslim for that.

In the western world, the young Islamic political party members call themselves islamist. It may not have existed but the word is normally used for those parties which use islam as a political weapon.
Politics and governance is embedded in Islam.
Those who use Islam as a political weapon for their own personal un Islamic gains or desires are khawarij. Those who are evildoers are Fasiq.
One of the big reasons why khawarij still have some support is because many Muslim countries adopted western terms like “Islamists” for them and pushed basically a secular approach to tackle the issue. Had they labelled them khawarij as they were and followed the example set by many great Muslim leaders in history, many Muslim counties would be at peace rn.

I understand your point, all Muslims who are in to politics should be following Islamic principles because they're Muslim, they don't need to even name their party Islamic Party because its obvious. But unfortunately the reality is different. In the western world the young Muslim who follow religious parties claim we are islamist, our ideology is Islamism etc. In Muslim states you witness religious parties using Islam as a tool to gain votes, I am not talking about the terrorists but religious political parties.

In Pakistan for example Pmln is a religious conservative political party but they do politics based on economy, education, speak against corruption and opponents, they hardly use Islam as a political tool but use free and fair elections, development etc for politics, even though they may have no idea what they're talking about and their policies may fail.

Similarly the religious political parties use quran Islam sunnah ummah as a political weapon even though once in power they wouldn't care less, its just a tool to get in power because religion sells. They are just using Islam as a tool to win seats. I personally hate those who parties use Islam for politics, the reason is because I can clearly tell they're chatting it. If Pmln says we will spend more on developing by borrowing, the JUI may say once we're in power Islam will bring investment, but reality is once in power they will make excuses.
