“Four security forces personnel including an officer (Captain Umair Abbasi) also embraced martyrdom” in the intense exchange of fire in which several militants were also injured, the ISPR statement added.
The Shawal valley in North Waziristan Agency is stated to be the bastion of terrorists. The densely forested Shawal and Datta Khel have been used by terrorists as hideouts.
A senior security official in Peshawar confirmed the strikes and clashes. “The air strikes have increased in the last few days and we have hit targets today also. We have hit the hideouts many times during the last few days,” the official, who spoke on the condition of anonymity, told AFP.
Also on Saturday, a Pakistani soldier was killed and two others wounded when their vehicle hit an improvised explosive device planted on a roadside in North Waziristan’s Datta Khail.

The conflict zone is remote and off-limits to journalists, making it difficult to verify the army’s claims, including the number and identity of those killed.

Five soldiers, 34 militants dead in NWA clashes and airstrikes

Why are Pak journalists not allowed in NW and areas where Op Zarb e Azab is being conducted? Is the ISPR wary of independent reporting to verify claims by the PA? They claim that more than 3500 militants and 500 soldiers have been killed till date in this Op. Without an independent source to verify these claims, these figures are meaningless.

This is how we work.
Always have, always will.

I wont stop an independent journalist from going though.
You go there on your own, if you get shot. Not our fault.
Just know that we wont provide jackshit for security.

Even after a couple of years, it is difficult to gauge the success of Zarb-e-Azb, largely because figures provided to the public come from only one source, Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) of the Pakistani Army. There is no other reliable source of facts, and no independent media organization was allowed to embed with the army units fighting the Islamist militants in North Waziristan (aside from occasional tours organized by ISPR for select groups of journalists to show destroyed militant hideouts and captured weapons).

So, it's just conducted tours for selected groups by the ISPR to show what they want to show!! Thus in contrast to what you just mentioned, it's clear that journalists are debarred from entering the area leave alone their being embedded with army units. Thus, the outside world doesn't know what exactly is going on. Do you?

So that a few professional journalists venturing around for crispy reports to sale on their media outlets are beheaded by taliban.
And then start crying Pakistan is the most unsafe place for Journalista

No, I am satisfied as long as i know that they are doing as their told.

and the previous brutal retaliation by the taliban proves it even more.
so there is no need for me to question the policies.

Aside from this, I hardly doubt the army will allow anyone to get embedded in the combat zone.
So far, The "Only select" groups they refering to have been to zones that have been recently cleared off.

So there is no concern for doubt.
If some people dont find ISPR Credible, and want to feed on to another source. Then its good for them.

Om shanti to the brave soldiers.
We should learn from Pakistan. No matter what. they back their soldiers.

Had it been Indian soldiers, JNU would have held a party and opposition parties would have attended it eulogizing the terrorists.

Point:

Mulla Fazlu will not organize any protest on this

Molvi Siraj will not lead any Prayers for Martyrs in abstention.

These snakes need to die before a single soldier is sent any further.

Lanat on Jamat Islami and Molvis.

Son,
We cannot deal with hostage situations, nor can we deal with misreporting by Journalists who are in favor of Taliban.

Because in the midst of such heavy fighting, the PA cannot ensure the safety of the journalists without risking its own men in the process. We tried embedded journalism back in Bajaur but it was a terrible experience, journalists went into shell shock as soon as fighting began and suddenly became a liability that had to be catered to by the formation into which they were embedded.

I think terrorist can use little more mustard for their dinner tonight. Given 'em some.
