Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicle (TAPV)
The first Tactical Armoured Patrol Vehicles (TAPV) deliveries are scheduled to begin during the summer, reported by ottawacitizen.com. No specific date has been announced but the deliveries are expected in late August.

The fleet of 500 vehicles is expected to be distributed across seven bases. The Canadian Army expects to declare full operational capability by mid-2020.

TAPV has faced various problems – including suspension and drive issues. Textron says those issues have now been dealt with.

“The Army has closely followed the testing of this vehicle and they [Canadian Forces personnel] are relaying very positive feedback,” Brigadier-General S.M. Cadden, Chief of Staff Army Strategy, said in a statement n. “We are looking forward to fielding the TAPV to units.”

The TAPV is a 4×4 wheeled armoured vehicle specifically engineered and designed to provide survivability, mobility and versatility over the full spectrum of operations, according to Textron.

The Textron (US) TAPV is based on the M1117 Armoured Security Vehicle, developed for use by the military police of the US Armed Forces. Textron's tactical armored patrol vehicle (TAPV) failed a series of tests in 2014, forcing the company to make design changes to the wheeled system it offered Canada. In 2014, Public Works and Government Services Canada, the federal department handling procurements, warned Textron that it had one more chance to sort out the technical problems, which mainly concern the vehicle's cross-country mobility. Those problems include issues with suspension and steering. The TAPV will replace the Army's wheeled Coyote light armored vehicle and the RG-31 patrol vehicle.
