Airbus receives from Egypt its first order of A400M after the accident

The board of directors of Airbus Group met last week at the plant in San Pablo in Seville and the visit of the leadership of the company has transcended information of great significance for the future of its main program in Spain and Andalusia, the the A400M military transport plane. Pilar Albiac, executive vice president of operations Defense & Space Airbus, the subsidiary that groups all Airbus military affairs, told the staff St. Paul in a speech that Egypt has asked the company to have the A400M as soon as possible.

Has not disclosed the number of units that the African country has requested, but what matters is that would be the first state seeking to buy these aircraft since the program was launched by the customer nations (Germany, United Kingdom, France, Spain, Luxembourg, Turkey, Belgium and Malaysia, which joined in 2005). And even more relevant because last May 9 one of the planes that was by testing before delivery to the Turkish army fell shortly after takeoff in Seville. The accident is therefore not taking effect on the export potential of the device.

Egypt is the first customer of another Airbus military aircraft that is assembled in Seville, the C295, which runs 24 aircraft, the largest fleet in the world individually. Albiac told the staff that the response of the Egyptian army Airbus has been that it must meet its commitments to the countries and customers, but that Egypt welcomes aware of the importance of the A400M aircraft to keep it safe.

Airbus already had an order of 8 aircraft from South Africa that eventually was canceled, and another 3 to Chile is to be realized after being frozen by the change of government in recent years. Egypt and would be the first new customer. It remains to be seen whether the planes that can be sold to the country would be the Spanish army has already said it does not want, half of the 27 aircraft originally commissioned and that Spain has agreed with Airbus to jointly market.

Albiac also encouraged the workers and management of San Pablo to make the effort required to deliver 10 aircraft A400M in the remainder of 2015 have been delivered five aircraft (the last one week ago) so far this year, bringing the goal of providing customers between 13 and 17 appliances in this exercise would be fulfilled.

really!! first jets which i thought was un-nessary as they have 200+ f16's. then they buy a pair of mistral ships from France which is over blown and again unnecessary. and now a400m's France must be doing something to persuade them to buy their equipment.
i know France loaned them money to buy the rafales may be the mistral and the possible a400m order will be purchased via french loans too.

I know the egytians are going to hate me, but I have the following theory.

During and After the arab spring; a considerable amount of foreign capital was poured into the country;

Now that capital is being "earned" back to where it came from;

Egypt is left with interest payments to deal with; and equipment which may or may not have kill switches !

what! your f16's don't have aim120's? i doubt it
with every loan theres interest. so not only is France selling you equipment at very high prices there are also giving you a sour sweet.you have the luxury of not paying in full for them but you have to pay it back and theres interest. so the french are doing you over in two directions.

Egyptian F16 don't have BVR capabilities for Sure.
Rafales 3 of them came direct from production line supposed to be for French Air Force.
Fremm supposed to be French Normandie and now it is Tahya-Misr.
Mistrals 950 M$ in cash.(250 M$ less than Russian deal).
Gowind 3 will be built in Egypt with TOT.
I believe this urgent purchase of Weapons is very critical to Egyptian Army so it doesn't matter how expensive is it but what matters is how useful these weapons will be to Egypt.

Egypt is buying too many expensive things from NATO. Will they be able to maintain it?

Sorry, but how much is this report confirmed ??

Airbus itself has so far reported NOTHING !!! ... even more I don't think they would hide this deal.

You don't know may be a neighboring country with a crazy president think that is possible....by building your power they will know that they will pay a high price if they attacked you.
Don't forget chaos in ME ,neighboring Libya , Nile issue, Gas reserves along with Egyptian north cost and the most important water way in the world Suez Canal.

Apparently no. Israel block the AIM-120 sale to Egypt some time ago.

U.S. agrees not to sell AMRAAM to Egypt

I believe Egypt is the only Arab country that is not allowed AIM-120, all other Arab countries have it, SA on their F-15, UAE on their F-16, Kuwait on their F-18, Morocco and Bahrain on their F-16. you get the point.

Jordan too, they have AMRAAM.

The only other Arab country that didn't get the AIM-120 is Iraq, but that's because Iraq is not a real US ally, however Egypt is an ally to the US.

But Iraq didn't get the AIM-120 because US is reluctant to sell weapons to Iraq anyway, and Iraq doesn't need a modern airforce anyway, but Egypt's situation is different, AIM-120 to Egypt was blocked by Israel, F-15 sale to Egypt blocked by Israel, JDAM sale to Egypt blocked by Israel.

Israel is just fuked up
