Wiki: I was born here.

Tell me about your parents?
Wiki: My dad had come here forty and fifty years ago. His friends were in Faisalabad. They came to them and they opened the first Chinese restaurant of Faisalabad. Then, through this friend, a letter from his mother was held in China. My mother got to meet my grandmother then she was interrogated on the phone and she came to get married for a marriage.

How about your childhood? Tell me about initial education?
Wiki: Primary School was very difficult for me. I was the only Chinese and the kids used to bother me very much. My cheeks were naked, used to wander and walk and said, "Look, how bad it is." I was sitting alone in every break.

Then a teacher rotated the entire school and asked who you crave. For a few months, I kept them sitting in the staff room during break and it was all right now when I was in the first party. Then I took to Ami, Abu's other schools that the children may tighten down but I remember that everywhere I used to spread or everywhere or Chinese or cheng chong used to say.

I always feel that I am different from others. In high school, college also had a good position when it was said that I am Chinese. I took Gold Medal from the Lahore School of Economics. Dan was on the Honors List, yet he said it was all because of sugar.

Now you are a professional, how is life now?
Wikey: I go to school in the morning morning, then together with friends, a multimedia company is making Olympomollo go there. Then I go to another school. Then back to Olympomollo. I go home tonight. It seems that some creative work remains.

Do you speak Urdu and Punjabi? What is the reaction of the people?
Wiki: People get surprised. Even though I think it's a common thing. People think that one of my parents will be Pakistani, so I speak Urdu and Punjabi. It's a good thing, why do not you speak language?

Since people generally understand that I do not know Urdu, there are quite funny things. I went to a company where the boss is also Chinese and Staff's people were talking about Chinese people. Then someone told him that he comes to Urdu.

Is Pakistani racist about Chinese?
Wiki: Pakistan is definitely racist. Not all, some people are very sympathetic and helpless, but I am driving a car and on the traffic lite, sounds like sounds coming from, chung chiang ...

Although living here sometime felt very isolated. The only Chinese student at the school, the only Chinese girl in the office, one's only Chinese friend.

Sometimes it also seems responsibility that I am a representative of Chinese and Pakistanis, but it is obvious that my personal journey is mine.

Wiki: What do I tell about this advertisement? If there is a Chinese woman, then neighbors will make Chinese cuisine and do it here. We've changed five houses. وکی: میرے والد کوئی چالیس، پچاس برس قبل یہاں آئے تھے۔ ان کے دوست تھے فیصل آباد میں۔ ان کے پاس آئے تھے اور انھوں نے فیصل آباد کا پہلا چائنیز ریستوران کھولا تھا۔ پھر اسی دوست کے ذریعے ان کی میری والدہ سے خط وکتابت ہوئی جو چین میں رہتی تھیں۔ میری والدہ میری دادی سے ملنے گئیں پھر فون پر ان کی منگنی ہوئی اور وہ شادی کے لیے فیصل آباد آ گئیں۔

آپ کا بچپن کیسا گزرا؟ ابتدائی تعلیم کے بارے میں کچھ بتائیں؟
وکی: پرائمری سکول میرے لیے بہت مشکل تھا۔ میں واحد چینی تھی اور بچے مجھے بہت تنگ کرتے تھے۔ میرے گال نوچتے تھے، منہ پکڑ کر گھماتے تھے اور کہتے تھے، دیکھو کتنی کیوٹ ہے۔ میں ہر بریک میں اکیلی بیٹھی رو رہی ہوتی تھی۔

پھر ایک ٹیچر نے پورا سکول گھمایا اور پوچھا بتاؤ کون کون تنگ کرتا ہے تمھیں۔ کئی مہنیے تک میں بریک کے دوران ان کے پاس سٹاف روم میں بیٹھتی رہی اور یہ سب اس وقت ہو رہا تھا جب میں ابھی پہلی جماعت میں تھی۔ پھر مجھے امی، ابو دوسرے سکولوں میں لے کر گئے کہ شاید وہاں بچے کم تنگ کریں لیکن مجھے یاد ہے کہ ہر جگہ پر مجھے پھینی کہتے یا چینی یا چنگ چانگ تو ہر کوئی کہتا تھا۔

مجھے ہر وقت یہ احساس رہتا کہ میں دوسروں سے مختلف ہوں۔ ہائی سکول میں، کالج میں بھی اچھی پوزیشن آتی تھی تو کہتے تھے کہ یہ اس لیے کہ میں چینی ہوں۔ میں نے لاہور سکول آف اکنامکس سے گولڈ میڈل لیا۔ ڈین کی آنرز لسٹ پر تھی، پھر بھی کہتے تھے یہ سب چینی ہونے کی وجہ سے ہے۔

اب آپ ایک پروفیشنل ہیں، اب زندگی کیسی ہے؟
وکی: صبح صبح سکول میں پڑھانے جاتی ہوں پھر دوستوں کے ساتھ مل کر ایک ملٹی میڈیا کمپنی اولوموپولو بنائی ہے وہاں جاتی ہوں۔ پھر ایک اور سکول میں پڑھانے جاتی ہوں۔ اس کے بعد واپس اولوموپولو۔ رات گئے گھر جاتی ہوں۔ کوشش ہوتی ہے کہ کچھ نہ کچھ تخلیقی کام ہوتا رہے۔

آپ اردو اور پنجابی بولتی ہیں؟ لوگوں کا ردعمل کیا ہوتا ہے؟
وکی: لوگ کافی حیران ہو جاتے ہیں۔ حالانکہ میں اسے ایک عام سی بات سمجھتی ہوں۔ لوگ سمجھتے ہیں کہ میرے والدین میں سے ایک پاکستانی ہو گا اس لیے میں اردو اور پنجابی بولتی ہوں۔ سیدھی سی بات ہے یہاں کی جم پل ہوں تو زبان کیوں نہیں بولوں گی۔

چونکہ عام طور پر لوگ سمجھتے ہیں کہ مجھے اردو نہیں آتی تو کافی مضحکہ خیز باتیں ہوتی ہیں۔ میں ایک کمپنی میں گئی جہاں کا باس بھی چینی ہے اور سٹاف کے لوگ چینی لوگوں کے بارے میں باتیں کر رہے تھے۔ پھر کسی نے انھیں چپ کروایا کہ اسے تو اردو آتی ہے۔

وکی: پاکستانی یقیناً نسل پرست ہیں۔ سب نہیں، کچھ لوگ بہت ہمدرد اور مددگار ہیں لیکن میں کبھی گاڑی چلا رہی ہوں اور ٹریفک لائٹ پر رکوں تو ساتھ والی گاڑیوں سے آوازیں آنے لگتی ہیں، چنگ چانگ۔۔۔

بعض اوقات موٹر سائیکل پر لڑکے پیچھا کرتے ہیں پھر میں کہتی ہوں کہ بہنوں کے ساتھ بھی یہی کرتے ہو، کیا ماں بہن نہیں ہے تمہاری، تو وہ ہنسنے لگتے ہیں اور بھاگ جاتے ہیں۔

ایک مرتبہ میں ہائپر سٹار میں تھی تو کسی نے کہا چنگ چانگ۔ میں بولی کہ کچھ لوگ کبھی بڑے نہیں ہوں گے تو وہ معافی مانگنے لگا کہ مجھے نہیں پتہ تھا کہ آپ کو اردو آتی ہے۔ مطلب یہ کہ اگر مجھے اردو نہ آتی ہو تو چنگ چانگ کہنا ٹھیک ہے؟

سی پیک کے بارے میں کیا جانتی ہیں؟
وکی: زیادہ نہیں بس اتنا کہ یہ ایک تجارتی راستہ ہے۔ پاکستان میں انفراسٹرکچر بنے گا۔ دونوں ممالک کو یقیناً فائدہ ہو گا۔ یہ دونوں ممالک کے لیے سنہری موقع ہے۔ میرے کافی دوست مذاق کرتے ہیں کہ میں اصل میں سی پیک کی ایجنٹ ہوں۔ کچھ دوست یہ بھی مذاق کرتے ہیں کہ ہو سکتا ہے کہ سی پیک کی وجہ سے تمہارے رشتے آنے لگیں۔

تھیٹر، فلم، ٹیچنگ، کیا کرنا زیادہ پسند ہے؟
وکی: مجھے شروع سے ہی لکھنے کا کافی شوق تھا۔ مجھے ہمیشہ سے معلوم ہے کہ میں کہانیاں سنانا چاہتی ہوں۔ پھر تھیٹر کا خبط ہوا حالانکہ میں فائنانس پڑھ رہی تھی لیکن دوستوں کے ساتھ مل کر تھیٹر شروع کیا۔ شروع میں کافی مشکل تھا لیکن پھر کچھ دوست بن گئے تو کام شروع ہوا۔ کچھ فلم پروجیکٹس پر کام کیا۔ ٹیچ فار پاکستان ایک پروگرام تھا، اس میں پڑھایا، پھر سکولوں کے لیے ڈرامے ڈائریکٹ کیے۔ طالبعلم چاہتے ہیں کہ کوئی ایسا ٹیچر ہو جس سے وہ بات کر سکیں۔

آپ اپنے آپ کو چینی سمجھتی ہیں یا پاکستانی؟
وکی: پاکستان میں چینی برادری ایک دوسرے سے بہت جڑی ہوئی ہے۔ میں اپنے آپ کو چینی اور پاکستانی سمجھتی ہوں۔ میں یہ نہیں بھول سکتی کہ میری جڑیں کہاں ہیں لیکن میری پرورش پاکستان میں ہوئی ہے۔ حالانکہ یہاں رہتے ہوئے بعض دفعہ بہت تنہائی محسوس ہوئی۔ سکول میں واحد چینی طالبعلم، دفتر میں واحد چینی لڑکی، کسی کی واحد چینی دوست۔

کبھی کبھی ذمے داری بھی محسوس ہوتی ہے کہ میں چینیوں اور پاکستانیوں دونوں کی نمائندہ ہوں لیکن ظاہر ہے میرا ذاتی سفر میرا ہی ہے۔

کچھ عرصہ قبل ایک اشتہار آیا تھا جس میں ایک چینی خاتون بریانی بنا کر پاکستانی ہمسایوں سے دوستی کرتی ہے۔ آپ کو یہ کیسا لگا؟
وکی: میں اس اشتہار کے بارے میں کیا کیا بتاؤں۔ چینی عورت ہے تو ہمسایوں کو چینی کھانا بنا کر دے گی اور کیا یہاں ہمسائے ایسے ہوتے ہیں۔ ہم نے پانچ گھر تبدیل کیے ہیں۔ پہلے دن ہمسائے خود آ جاتے ہیں ملنے کے لیے اور پہلے دن خود کھانا بنا کر لاتے ہیں کیونکہ پہلے دن تو گھر میں کچن نہیں چلتا۔ اور بریانی کی بھی بے عزتی ہوئی اس اشتہار میں۔ اتنے زیادہ چاول اور دو چھوٹی چھوٹی بوٹیاں اور یہ چاول سٹیمر میں کون پیش کرتا ہے۔ اور ویسے بھی چینی عورت پاکستان آنے سے پہلے چیٹ پر دوسری چینی عورتوں سے دوستی کرے گی۔

وکی: دونوں ملک آس پاس ہی آزاد ہوئے تھے اور دونوں میں ایک بھائی چارہ ہے۔ دونوں سٹریٹجک معاملات میں ایک دوسرے پر انحصار کرتے ہیں۔ جہاں تک دونوں کے لوگوں کی بات ہے تو انھوں نے ایک دوسرے کے سٹیریو ٹائپ بنا رکھے ہیں اور ان سے ہٹتے نہیں ہیں۔​
