Defeat in detail is why 60k Taliban can defeat 400k Kabul security forces (with $100 billion worth of USA equipment). Napoléon would be proud  . Strategy and tactics are still important in 21 century warfare.

for every one such story there are 100 stories where a larger better equipped army wipes out numerically inferior foe

So u mean larger chinese army has more probability to win over usa in case of war ?

For that mater someone might argue that china is better equipped atleast in some of the areas.

The key operative words are "larger" and "better equipped"

Of course we won't discuss air & naval power here

napoleonic strategy is relevant to two conventional opponents. called interior lines or strategy of centeral positioning.
even napoleon failed to effectively curb unconventional forces in spain.

USA is still unmatched in key aspects of military technology. The American military is not exactly puny.
Of course we won't discuss geography. Nor shall we discuss air & naval power.

Same can be said about chinese. No one can match them in adopting new concepts technologies and tactics and the discipline not just in military but also in the whole nation

Furthermore chinese are far a head in terms of their manufacturing capacity and the speed of manufacturing. The pace they can build military equipment is higher than even whole nato combined.

So this all is subjective.

Even in total tonnage of ships chinese are ahead of usa but the gap was only increase further

All China has proven is that they can steal and copy Russian and Western technology

Chinese can build as many ships as possible. Without air cover they are sitting ducks to US naval air power

This is the advantage the Taliban hold. They melt away like unconventional forces or form up and launch conventional assaults against isolated Kabul regime garrisons.

IMO, if Taliban had good manpad sams, then Kabul security forces would be in serious trouble. Their helicopter resupply would be under threat as well as their air support.:coffee:
