An investment in drones for Sensing and targeting can be used to protect naval assets, prevent blockades and free up resources. Adding ASW Torpedoes would be the next logical step. Based out of every Naval Air Station along the coast, Enemy Submarines couldn't guarantee their safety and would have to change their operational procedures.

An Interesting Video; any major shortcomings in this approach?

I believe unmanned boat carrying passive/active sonar patrolling coastal sea will be better, Aerial vehicles without dipped/dropped sonar can only spot surfaced subs.

In wrong section :hitwall::hitwall::hitwall: it should be naval discussion sub forum @FuturePAF :crazy::crazy:

@waz ,@The Eagle @WebMaster please move this thread to appropriate sub forum, thanks

oops, thanks

what if MPA sensors are miniaturized like a MAD sensor and placed on this uav
this along with deploying local SOSUS nets in the litorial areas; to get a relative idea where a target maybe.

Yeah, combining UAV with SOSUS would make a lot more sense. However I'd still prefer drone ship:
While SOSUS network could potentially have larger detection range than drone ship due to utilizing under water sound convergent channels, drone ship is more flexible. If you want to sweep a certain region you can re-deploy your drone ship towards the location.
Also drone ship would be a lot easier to maintain and lower cost than a SOSUS network (extremely long underwater cabling).
Compared to uav, drone ship can have almost infinite endurance, it is even possible to use solar power for the thing, since most of the time it just need to keep station and listening in passive.

Good Points; maybe Sosus networks close to ports and strategic chokepoints or ridges of underwater mountains for the deep channels, drone ships to then search further out, and drones to overlap the drone ships and provide a chase to subs; with sonar buoys and torpedoes.

Yeah, something like that would cover all bases.
