"Blitzkrieg", and offensive strategy still relevant today as it was in WW2

Blitz was actual word Geobles called it Blitz kreig successful in Europe but was unsuccessful in Russia due to terrain infrastructure and supply line.

I never saw a single clip of Al-Khalid tanks maneuver in forest , furthermore all of our concerned borders are vast plain areas with good visblity (because of agriculture lands).
South of Hasilpur till Nagar Parkar is desert front of 750 Km which India will exploit and AK is deployed with formations covering desert region.

2nd Half of Defence " T-129 Turkish Gunship "

The T-129 will modernize the Pakistani Blitz attack with providing Top quality air support, freeing up JF17 Block III fleet for other duties, step in right direction for Ground forces

Fixed wing aircraft will also be required- CAS and Air superiority in regions where friendly ground forces are operating in enemy territory.

For blitzkrieg, there should be a tactical air supperiority over the battlefield or else get ready to get pounded by the unknown

In the final battle, almost 200,000 German Troops were stationed in North of Prussia , who were not called up to support the defense from behind Soviet lines a tactical mistake on part of germans

They were stationed there for a possible invasion by the British/US allies prior to the D-Days landings and the threat of invasion remained afterwards so hitler never recalled them, it would not have mattered any way because the wehrmacht was but a shadow of it self by 1944 when the first British and US soldiers landed on the shores of normandy.

One of the biggest blunders hitler made during the war was his adamant stance of conquering Stalingrad, the army group south could have easily avoided the city and gone south for the primary objective of securing the oil fields but instead because of hitlers obsession of conquering a city named after Stalin cost the germans nothing but soldier lives and resources, the germans by that time after conquering 100s of acres of Russian land, man power and resources had an over stretched and poorly defended supply lines, the red army took advantage of this and wedged multiple divisions through those supply lines completely surrounding the city, the Wehrmacht attackers within the city turned to defenders over night and the german army group south was almost routed by such a manoeuvre and it took an equally brilliant counter attack during the third battle of Kharkov by Eric Von Manstien and the sheer tenacity of the Wehrmacht fighting capability and professionalism that finally stabilised the front for the germans, the war was obviously not over and the next major theater in the region was the battle of Kursk.

The real World War 2 was fought on the eastern front, every thing else was just a cake walk compared to it.

I conclude this please study the German attack at Battle of Bulge when they were almost defeated yet managed to pierce Allied lines as deep as 30 miles in 4 days.

I would like to point one thing here, during the Battle of the Bulge (hitlers last major offensive in the western front), the German armed forces were severely weakened both in resources and man power by fighting the Red Army for the last 4 to 5 years prior and still were able to go toe to toe in almost any occasion against the western allies.

Well during the early phases of War

  • Germans had the most advanced , agile Tank in market, it had a great success rate while moving

Actually that is not true, during the battle for France with the Char B tanks and the British Matilda 2 had superior well armored tanks compared to the german's early panzer series, during one occasion erwin rommel was so out matched by the british tanks that he retreated his division and placed strategic anti tank guns to silence them, it was the superior doctrine, briliant generals and well discipline army that won Germany almost the whole of Europe by the early 1940's, the Tigers and the Panther tanks came later.

Blitzkrieg

Blitzkrieg is a method of warfare which translates into LIGHTNING ATTACK in German, whereby an attacking force, spearheaded by a dense concentration of armored and motorized or mechanized infantry formations with close air support, breaks through the opponent's line of defense by short, fast, powerful attacks and then dislocates the defenders, using speed and surprise to encircle them with the help of air superiority

The strategy was used in WW2, effectively by Germans to capture large territory.
Germans blitz thru to France using the strategy and occupied France , and in a swift reversal
Berlin itself fell to an attack from Allied forces including Soviets at the conclusion of WW2 in Europe

Using the strategy The mechanized Group moved rapidly across the border
Provided with air support

And columns of troops, 50,000 to 100,000 troops followed behind on foot or horses

During the end of the war, the opponents especially the Soviet Tanks matched Germans tanks in firepower and the Germans were pegged from their Western / Eastern front

The Soviets copied various tactics and showed their own lethal Armored division capabilities backed with artillery to soften up city defenses

The lessons learned from this offensive

a) Tanks + Air support wins you Territory, the ground troops capture and fortify an area
b) Never extend the distance between your Tanks and Footsoldier's division where Tanks run out of supplies and support
c) Simple soldier formations were not able to defend against Tanks / Artillery
d) Allied forces ran across a massive challenge to cross River Protecting german region in Berlin, and Germans had forgotten to destroy one of the bridges :o: The tanks managed to get over the one remaining bridge till it broke down.
e) While Germans had missiles these did not win them any territory
f) Allied forces/Soviets had a secret pact to destroy German and zones were divided and Berlin was under Soviet Zone of influence , which is why they went in Berlin for final attack

Soviet Tanks which tilted the balance in Europe
tank_t-34_gora_myska.jpg

Soviet Generals in final days of wars avoided German columns of soldier groups and forced their Tanks to go deep into cities to cause massive havoc and capture the big cities

The German soldier resistance was cleaned up by foot soldiers

During peak battles, the war saw battle between forces on both side with up to 2000+ Tanks

Considering the Success of Blitz in WW2 one can imagine importance of Tank Programs like Al Khalid 1 and Al Khalid 2

The use of Blitzkrieg as a war opening strategy is no longer practical in modern times, particularly at places where both antagonist forces are equipped with modern conventional capabilities.

Advancement in recon & surveillance assets deny the crucial element of surprise from Blitzkrieg strategy.

The advancements in mobile anti armor weapon systems, like ground strike aircrafts equipped with cluster munitions, gunships with ATGMs and land based ATGM carriers can build up very potent mobile defense line which can render any swift armored thrust useless.

Above all, for successful execution of Blitzkrieg, ability to achieve quick air superiority or atleast air dominance over the battlefield is important. In the absense of control of skies, one cannot afford to send its armored thrust deep into enemy territory. Yes, mobile air defense systems can work as anti-access area denial (A2-AD) assets, but there exists numerous tactics and standoff weapons which can out class SAM systems.

Indian Cold Start Doctrine is significantly based upon war fighting concept of Blitzkrieg, however due to reasons mentioned above, it's practical execution for achieving relevant war objectives is highly questionable.

And let's not forget the Nasr TNW which is specifically designed to deter such type of armored aggressions.
I remember @Signalian once wrote a piece about countering Cold Start 'comfortably' with Conventional forces only.

What for me is telling is a German army, depleted, worn out and facing three front war managed to launch the attack and within four days to have penetrated 30 miles beyond Allied lines. If Pakistan Army could repeat this on Sialkot sector Kashmir would be in Pakistan's hands as Jammu would be captured. I believe it is only 20 miles from Pak lines.

This also applies to Indian Army. If they could repeat this then all of Lahore would be in Indian hands as it is only 10 miles from Indian border.

Great post by the way.

Providing air superiority can be established it is still applicable. Please study US drive [Blitz] along the Euphrates valley to capture Baghdad in Iraq war.

no more blitzkriegs . that era is far gone now

we are in modern hybrid warfares today .

azad , pl make something about that, like pictures and all .

some tags for you , PMC wagner , militias , doenestsk peoples republic, donbass republic, snipers at the front , artillery at the back , signal interception, social media trolling etc

If the Era is gone then why are folks still making tanks , unfortunately Tanks are here to stay for foreseeable future

The tactics may have changed slightly as newer technology has arrived to ensure tanks survive longer
