BAE Systems ready to bid again for fighter jet deal with India

Britain's BAE Systems is preparing a fresh bid for the world’s biggest fighter jet order despite India’s rejection of its Eurofighter Typhoon for France’s Dassault Rafale.
The company, which employs 38,000 in Britain, has been working quietly on a new bid since India’s top brass chose the French fighter last January in a £12.9billion order for 126 aircraft.
BAE believes that when India scrutinises the Rafale and assesses the French submission, it will realise the Eurofighter is a superior aircraft that will be cheaper overall.

If the Indians are willing to look again at the Eurofighter – and there are indications that is happening – a revised bid will be ready for them.
BAE has even come up with designs for a marine version of the Eurofighter in case the Indians want to fly it from aircraft carriers.

BAE May Cut Price In Bid For India Fighter-Jet Order, Mail Says

Jun 10, 2012

BAE Systems Plc (BA/) is preparing a new bid to supply India with fighter jets as it competes with Dassault Aviation SA for the order, the Mail on Sunday reported.

The London-based defense company may reduce the price of its Eurofighter typhoon aircraft after India rejected an earlier proposal, the newspaper reported, without saying where it got its information.

Dassault and India are in final talks to conclude details of a contract, after its Rafale was given preference over the Eurofighter in February, the French company’s Chief Executive Officer Charles Edelstenne said in March.

Dassault is not going to let this deal slip away this easily. IF BAE can cut the price, so can Dassault. Just hope all this doesn't delay the procurement anymore.

Makes me really wonder if this mmrca deal will ever materialise. This new twist will only add agony to the much delayed project.

now more value added services and goodies from Dassault to compensate EFT offer.:azn:

Wouldn't that mean stretching the timeline further away by reevaluating the technical requirements?

India can not ditch France now.....but India can dictate term in final negotiation with France

I would say, just go with the French offer and get it done with as soon as possible. Dont want our pilots dying in those flyin fckin coffins

absolutely.. get it over & done with. Upgrades & the additionals can come in later stages. Once you get into this EF thing.. then you are not just dealing with one country or one entity. It goes beyond the realms of defence deal & political influence will come into the fore by the stake holding countries! Wait & agony will just carry on...

Rafale is the best choice unless the Brits can pull a rabbit out the hat and offer us something unexpected
