  • “I stand with the party [PML-N]. I am a party worker,” says Abbasi.
  • Ex-PM says no differences with the PML-N or the party’s supremo.
  • "Holding elections in October-November obligatory as per law."
Following his resignation from the Economic Coordination Committee (ECC) of the Cabinet after reportedly developing differences with the party leadership over a matter relating to the purchase of liquefied natural gas (LNG), Pakistan Muslim League-Nawaz (PML-N) senior leader Shahid Khaqan Abbasi on Tuesday called on his party’s supremo Nawaz Sharif in London.

Well-placed sources claimed that the former prime minister tendered his resignation due to disagreement over the purchase of LNG from Azerbaijan through an intergovernmental approach on June 18.

Abbasi expressed opposition to obtaining LNG from Azerbaijan via the state-owned Pakistan LNG Limited (PLL). Instead, he advocated for a private Pakistani company to handle the purchase of LNG cargo. The Petroleum Division, as per the sources, had declined to prepare the required summary as directed by Abbasi.

Talking to journalists following the meeting with the PML-N supremo, Abbasi said, “I stand with the party [PML-N]. I am a party worker.”

The former premier asserted that he had no differences with the PML-N or the party’s supremo.

“There are no differences within the party ranks,” Abbasi said, adding that he never hinted at launching a new political party.

It is reportedly considered that former finance minister Miftah Ismail and Abbasi are not in the good book of the party’s Senior Vice President Maryam Nawaz.

Earlier this year, Abbasi stepped down from the party’s post after Maryam was elevated as the PML-N’s chief organiser and senior vice president by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif, who is also PML-N president.

During his today’s interaction with the journalists in London, the ex-premier said that he had already informed Nawaz that it would not be possible for him to stay in the party position if he would change leadership.

Responding to another question, he said that holding general elections in the country in October-November are compulsory as per the law and the Constitution.

Lashing out at the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI), Abbasi said that the provincial assemblies in Punjab and Khyber Pakhtunkhwa were dissolved to create anarchy in the country.

To another question, the PML-N leader said that he would contest the upcoming elections if these are “meaningful”.

What did I tell ya.

Pakistani politics are a crapshoot right now.

SKA has a fight with the PM but not with the party his brother runs. PPP is not part of government or PDM but has cabinet positions. IPP is part of the cabinet but contesting elections against PML.

PMLN is going to win the next elections for Punjab and the Federal Govt, if not for K-P too. PTI, unless some late-stage, unlikely Minus-One Formula is arrived, won't even be a viable party. IPP will be a power-broker and sniff power from via PPP or PMLN; IPP may also have the Establishment's backing and scheming. MQM would band together and once again make a powerful 'block' now that PTI is wrapping up in Karachi (and elsewhere).
Right now, any 'electables' who can find a slot would seek PMLN in Punjab, that is IF PMLN would accept the 'outsiders'. PPP is keen to accept the 'electables' in Punjab.
Power politics doesn't like a void. With PTI out, others are filling in. Happened before to other major, popular parties--and multiple times.
This time ain't much different, notwithstanding all the noise in social media.

If the Pakistani Military Establishment forces PMLN to make serious economic reforms before the election and then doesn't ensure victory for them, then Pakistan is probably done economically.

Interesting thought!
From today's announcements of 'The Plan B' for the economic revival where the military and the (non-Imran) politicians are going to work together, it is apparent that not much pretenses for 'democracy' etc would be kept going forward. A true, brutal 'hybrid' system is being engineered because Pakistan is economically truly in a do-or-die situation.

PMLN will win but without free money from elsewhere it won't be able to revive the economy

China isn't going to open up it's money anymore either

So pray for Iran war.. people in KP aren't in mood to be sold off again for billions in CSF funding

And who is going to invest in such a regime?
Brain and capital drain will continue and will intensify.

The elite will milk the world 5th largest country and everyone is happy 😁

King Noora is returning to reclaim his throne. :victory:

In Dharmi mythology/lore, king Rama was also exiled but made a triumphant return home, the people celebrated with lighting lamps all over the land, today we call that festival Diwali.

On his return, PML-N should declare a national holiday.

Noora = Lord Ram
Pak Fauz = Vanar Sena
Handsome = Ravana

PMLn is most disadvantaged at the moment in the political landscape in the country. There is administrative problems within the organisation and long term absence of the vote pull of Nawaz Sharif is hurting bad.

PTI groups and PPP are going to score big in Punjab. They have the electables as well as the rhetoric.
