Please dont conflate Military with the Chief. The Chief is one man and not the institution, its past, present or future. By conflating the two you are doing a disservice to our armed forces and the men who have served or are currently serving within it.
I dont disagree with what you are saying. All I am arguing about is that criticism of the Chief should not be conflated with the institution. Officers throughout the institution are measured on their individual performance, merit and leadership. The Chief is his own man and neither should we blame the army for one man's actions, nor should we provide him cover under the banner of the Army due to his personal actions.
In an armed force of 600K a close knit group of serving and retired senior officers is a small drop in a large bucket.
The reality is all decision making of the armed forces is in a group no larger than 20 men. Of these 20 men there are at best 3 who are totally aligned with Voldermort. About 4-6 are luke warm but still working lock step. The others are just following orders and operating in a disciplined fashion.
