A suicide bomb blast in Afghanistan's eastern city of Jalalabad killed 33 people and injured more than 100 outside a bank where government workers collect salaries, the city's police chief said on Saturday.

Police were investigating whether there was a second explosion after people rushed to the scene to help, the police chief, Fazel Ahmad Sherzad, told a news conference.

"It was a suicide attack," Mr. Sherzad said, adding that police had yet to determine if the attacker had worn the explosives or had placed them in a car. "It is early to say what kind of suicide bomber."

The Taliban denied responsibility.

"It was an evil act. We strongly condemn it," the militant group's spokesman, Zabihullah Mujahid, told Reuters.

After Afghan COGS being invited as the Guest of honor of PMA passing out parade, it (or a similar incident) was inevitable. You know who does not want the two countries to settle down their differences and move forward.

As usual, a well known islamist group has taken responsibility, and as usual India is being implicated here. ISIS is also funded and managed by India, I suppose.

I think 2 days to 3 days back , there were one article which talks about Afghans want to go to fight houthis in Yeman and now this attack and the claims made in the name of IS.

Pakistan, Afghanistan must join hands together to finish these barbarians. Sadly it happened today in Afghanistan but something smiliar happend in Peshawar sometime ago. The bottom line is that the leadership on both sides of the border must raise to the occasion and finnish off these animals. There is no use blaming the others, its our house and both Pakistan and Afghanistan must work together.

Ashraf Ghani's vision is of having Franco/German type understanding between Pakistan and Afghanistan where economics take precedence. A economically viable Afghanistan will bring at least 20 million Pakistanis out of poverty. Ashraf Ghani is a visionary and needs visionary on the other side of the border, history wont be kind to us if this chance is lost. / Peace

At the end of the day,it is the people of Pakistan and Afghanistan suffering together.

We should join hands to conduct joint operation in the border region

This is very bad. I can't stress enough how bad this is. A weakened Taliban will be very bad for Afghanistan and Pakistan.

We need a joint CT command with Afghanistan, offer them our assets and air support to APU. Let's kill these ISIS swines!
