Forget curved displays, LG is ready to produce bendable OLED displays which will be unbreakable, shatterproof and made out of plastic.

Display technologies might be going overboard with 4K resolution and super slim design, but the most innovative feature is definitely the bending capability. While most of the curved and bendable displays are glass based, they are prone to breaking or shattering. However, LG's latest innovation might just change the whole scenario.

LG is said to be working on a bendable OLED display which will be plastic based rather than glass. This means that it will be more flexible and have an increased bending capability of up to 30mm radius. The bendable and flexible display might not be useful to all but this is a good step for regular displays as the shatterproof capability can be quite useful. The plastic based OLED display can be used in certain devices where consumers accidently drop and break the display leading to repair and replacement costs.

The only drawback for now is that the plastic based bendable displays are not at par with regular displays in terms of power efficiency, brightness and colour accuracy. Currently the display offers an efficiency of 60 lumens/Watt, an 807 nits peak brightness output, 3000K color temperature and a CRI (Color Rendering Index) of 85.

LG plans to improve on it and use this display in smartphones, tablets, wearables, PC monitors, TVs, car dashboards, and also interior design. The company also hopes to create foldable computers in about two years of time.

I am using LG G FLEX Curved Phone! It is simply amazing with the longest battery time of all phones on 3G or 4G networks.
