What's new

PAF's MBDA-SPADA 2000 Surface to Air Missile System.

Ahmad Mukhtar :what:, a man who has probably never read a military manual in his life. Am i supposed to take his word?

The babu culture exists among our political oligarchy, not PAF. Anyways, no point of arguing unless we have something concrete to argue about. Right now, its all hearsay and my sources in PAF are yet to confirm because the Erieye has not been written off from the inventory list during the last audit.

i suppose you havent read or heard the secretary defence Lt Gen (R) Asif Yaseen Malik public testimony in Parliament disclosing in crystal clear terms one AWAC destroyed on spot while one AWAC was damaged in the attack and destroyed AWAC costing PAF 250 million dollars

I don't know why you are mixing Ahmad Mukhtar with him or how you ignored all the discussions occured here after his revelation in parliament in FEB 2013, 6 months after AWAC was destroyed

If BABU culture did not exist in PAF, we would not have heard PAF spokesperson, A Group Captain, lying up to his teeths consistently for whole week, that no AWAC was destroyed and mother of irony, destroyed AWAC news was released through SEC DEF in parliament instead of PAF owning up their failures and itself disclosing the destruction of AWAC

I don't think that you can just take TPS 77 and make an AESA out of that. Not that simple man. However, can the Chinese see it and reverse engineer it? I am sure that may be possible but why would they need to? They were already using or testing AESA on the J-31 and J-20....so miniaturizing an already in-test or working AESA for the JFT is much easier than taking a land based TPS 77 type of a system and try to compact it. It'll probably cost a fortune in trying that without results. But the Chinese already have access to some Russian and some Israeli tech like 10 years ago (AWACS - Phalcon saga) so they've probably gone that route for their initial AESA developments. TPS tech in this case isn't applicable in my opinion.
TPS-77 is a great 3-D radar. It will detect anything flying unless its a stealth jet and very stealthy at that. Many nations including the US herself uses it so there is confidence in this product. Rafale isn't stealthy or anything and it doesn't require anything out of the ordinary to detect. It may have good jamming or resistance to EM but that can't stop it from getting detected. Active Cancellation can only help in getting locked on or getting hit. But then again, what's painting you and what type of a missile is chasing you play huge factors.
Anyone to believe that the US never thought that it's pilots may have to face off with Rafale one day is simply naive!! Specially knowing the French are buddies buddies with the Arabs and others. So there are good chances that the US pilots may see Rafale as an enemy plane one day. And you are going to tell me that the world strongest military industrial complex hasn't spend a few billion to make sure it'll maintain its edge over this???? RETHINK if you think Rafale is superior!

I got half answer. Sorry you took my question in wrong context. as it was in discussion about use of spectra on Rafael. so my question was is it possible for TPS77 to detect Rafael while its using spectra. Do we have such Aesa radars in pakistan which can detect Rafael from 300KM+ distance. as i was searching and some where i see we also have VERA system?

My answer is still in the above statement. Spectra is just a defensive suite that helps in avoiding a precise lock by some weapon systems. But detection is a whole different thing. If its RCA is the same as an F-18, then yes. The tps can detect it from a few hundred miles away, unless its flying at the nap of the earth or at the tree height. Then you have to wait for it to be picked up by both the tps 77 and any low level radars like the aerosats you guys have. In this case, it won't be the norm like 300 miles out. But it'll still give you plenty of warning time. Never flew into Rafale so hard to say exactly when but should be 50 miles or so. The EM beam of the tps is very concentrated within a hundred miles and its hard to evade it. Flying at a normal height or above the sea level, you should be able to detect anything but stealthy jets out by a few hundred miles. But the tps will still be able to detect it in either case.

Thanks i got it :D

I think PN and PAF should look towards Chinese sytems too. I think PN really needs some about 3 of them...

That picture is artistic view of Spada. Every system can be made highly mobile, as Czech did by putting spide on SA 6 vehicles. That Slovakian S 300 is PMU0 version; you can expect better performance of PMU1 or PMU2 (which is currently selling).
Proper question is does Spada have PESA or AESA radar, because if it does, it will be difficult to engage it with anti-radiation missiles. All those long range bombs only work if you know enemy positions, which generally you don't in wartime.

SPADA is truly State of the Art System ..
any idea how many batteries we got ?
