How do we make PDF better?

This deserves a ban itself. Don't criticize the management in the open there is a proper place for that and proper way to rectify those issues you are having if any.

Tied up with other things at the moment, but reducing trolling is a continuous task not to mention the amount of suicide trolls who do stealth attacks.

I understand that this is a voluntary engagement for most of us here, i also understand that the forum owners need the numbers to push revenue, but please understand, we don't want PDF to go the way of some garbage bharat rakshak. Our political foes enjoy more freedom here than anywhere else. But there has to be a limit.

If you think that Mods are busy in their lives, then we need to look for more Mods. Perhaps on a trial basis?

Trolling doesn't push numbers FYI and trolls don't bring in revenue. Get it right.

We are doing whatever it can but it helps if critiquing the work we do to keep the forum clean remains respectful rather than the old random accusations.

Political foes have a right to post in respectful manner but they must receive the same. That has been the policy of PDF, and we will try to enforce as much as we can.

We have given credible tools to power good users but they must use it right. It helps us to identify if more red numbers mean a stricter action and that is usually the case.

I did not, under any case relate trolling with forum administration. What i meant was, that since the PDF has become more famous, it attracts large number of people. However, the actual technical capability of majority of new members is very low, and they do not debate in a meaningful manner. Instead of asking coherent questions politely, they go into one-liners, hijacking threads etc. There is not a single thread that has not been hijacked for one reason or another.

I report number of posts each day, sometimes on ridiculous i request the thread to be closed. But the response is too slow.

Can we have cancel post button, which would ask once do you want to cancel your post.
I have twice clicked reply to the wrong post then had to delete everything one word at a time on my mobile device. It would be helpful. Thanks

1. the "d pk" site style is very slow... there seems to be unnecessary use of javascript... please discard this style... use the "default style", but with two additions... (a). user details ( like flags and join date ) which are now part of the other style, (b). replace the current blue theme with green theme.

2. limited private messaging for all members... maximum ten messages...each of 150 characters length.

On the Flag why do you guys use two letters to name the country intead of three... ??

• There should be a system to let the member know about the action taken on his/her reported posts. Infact i know there's a system in place because once in a blue moon some mod uses it and it appears on my notification too.This way the member would know the status of his/her reported posts. It feels good when there's a 2-way communication. If the member feels that no action is being taken by the management then it lowers the enthusiasm with which posts 're reported.This is my observation.
• News feed that appears on every profile isn't showing the complete posts.I mean I'm sure my friends have been more than just liking posts on pdf.I really think news feed function isnt working properly these days.
• There's a new "unspecified" error which appears while editing posts.(not all the time though)
• The name of members on each post (towards the left under their DP) is not aligned.Was that done purposely??
• Many members have been complaining that they've been served bans without warnings....which I think is unfair. The ban tool should not be used to suppress those who disagree without being obnoxious. But at the same time it was good to see the ban of one or 2 perpetual trolls.
• I still dont see member's spotting their flags.Some just plainly refuse to put one...including the TTA's.

Stop the practice of cleaning up of reported posts of only the "distinguished" members.. to cover up and to cleanse their trails.
It actually is making them violate the rules further.
And it reminds us of what the governments do in our subcontinent.

if you don't want to get banned......avoid threads you know you'll get baited in. if a user is trying to bait you to get you banned ignore them and when you have cooled down take them off ignore.

also the U.S needs it's own thing for country watch.

Overall the forum is top notch. I have seen several people complain and say that they are leaving and going somewhere else.

Those people do 2 things:

1. Either they log off for a day and are back again
2. or they go to another forum and come back again to PDF in a very short period of time

In both scenarios they come to the realize that PDF is #1.

Once the section ban function is in place the trolls will mostly be dealt with.

Also american DefenSe forum needs to be added.

Right now the site is in the process of being upgraded. Once that is complete the forum will be better. New moderator functions have already been added and the image problem will be fixed.

Webby sir, majority of the posters are sensible, a small minority is into trolling. Going by the open hatred being shown by the majority here, let us agree that trolls and non trolls can not post together peacefully. They have different ideologies and therefore I propose two forum theory. It is our right to have another forum where only troll bothers will participate in discussions. Please don't take it lightly sir, if we don't get our forum soon, all the trolls will unite and 1st Jan 2015 we will observe and execute as direct derailment day for every thread on PDF.

• Is there a way to check for what all posts a member has received +ve ratings???Vbulletin had a feature in which we could check the likes a member received, does Xenforo also 've a similar feature???
